Bad smell, bad taste
I knew the moment I smelled my oatmeal that I had pick up the wrong box in the store. The product smells odd when you cook it and it taste awful. Maybe if I had not been eating the normal packs of maple and brown sugar, I wouldn't notice the difference, but I knew before I even took a bite! Change the color on the box, do something to make it stand out even more. This stuff is just bad!

Yum!
Tastes just like regular oatmeal, love it and eat it pretty much daily for breakfast. A little pricey though.

This is bad.
I have had Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal for breakfast every morning of my life since I was two years old. I am now in my twenties. No one is more familiar with or more dedicated to Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal than I. Over the years, I have experienced every variation of shelf life, humidity, water/milk ratio, temperature, microwave power, high/low elevation, etc. Recently, (to my ultimate horror) my store was out of my beloved Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal, and I foolishly believed that this protein version would be an acceptable alternative. Imagine my dismay: After initially ignoring the warning signs of peculiar smell and disturbing viscosity, I tasted what is best described as chemically-infused cardboard with the texture of sand. I feel betrayed, misled, and deeply sad. The most reliable part of my day was ruined by a cruel imposter. It is chewy, hydrophobic, and acted as a desiccant for my mouth. It is reminiscent of beach sand with only slightly less crunch and is equally difficult to process. The natural sweetness of my dear Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal has been replaced by an artificial, chemical taste. For the first time in my life, I was unable to finish eating a bowl of oatmeal. I asked members of my family to help me finish the box, but none had the intestinal fortitude. I have been plunged into a vortex of despair over this experience, but I am even more devastated at this betrayal by a brand I have cherished since before I can remember. If this review prevents even one person from suffering my fate, then it will have been worth my effort.

Horrible.
This tastes like chalky cardboard soup. We tried it because it was marked down and didn’t realize this protein-in-everything craze was going on. You’d be better off just mixing some protein powder with regular oatmeal because that’s what this is, except the powder they used tastes like paper.

Yum!
This is super good! I’m honestly surprised by all the bad reviews. This tastes like normal oatmeal to me. Maybe just a tiny bit thicker

Weird taste.
Wasn't paying attention enough and grabbed the protein version by accident. It tastes okay when I add in a bunch of cinnamon but there is still this weird after taste. It's not so bad that it's inedible but not very good.

Terrible taste and texture
Purchased by accident. Won't make that mistake again. Taste like ground up cardboard. Flavor and texture are terrible and one of the packs in my 6 pack box is labels Cream of Wheat with no brand name on it. Where is this stuff made?

Absolutely not
I’m not a huge protein girl. I realize that anything with protein added in is not going to taste that great. I hate wasting anything, food particularly, but this is really bad. Before I even took a bite it looked dry and mushy. After I took one bite, I couldn’t take another… It doesn’t have that protein taste but the texture is almost powdery. I can’t even force myself to eat it. I might mix this with the regular brown sugar maple oatmeal, but by itself is TERRIBLE.

Not so great
This tasted nothing like Maple and Brown Sugar oatmeal. I really like the one without the extra protein and thought this would be more filling. It had an odd taste, almost like I added hot milk to it. I couldn't eat it and I gave the rest away to the guys I work with. So far, the box is still in the break room!

Surprisingly good
I just tried this product after using up a box of Kodiak protein oatmeal, and the Quaker tastes better and has a much better texture. The price in my local store was also a little less.

How far would you go?
This oatmeal will answer the question "How far would you go to get shredded?" If this is oatmeal is something you would force yourself to eat in order to increase your gains, I would say the answer to the question would be "Pretty dang far." The mushy texture, combined with the weird baby food taste and smell, is enough for me to state emphatically that this oatmeal is where I draw the line.

I love it
I love Quaker high protein brown sugar and cinnamon oatmeal. It makes me feel full longer and has more protein than other oatmeal. Its not real sweet tasting as are some sweetened oatmeal.

I was able to tell the difference right away. There is actually texture to my oatmeal! Flavor is still just as satisfying. Good looking out, Quaker!!

SOO Good!
This oatmeal is SO good, and really helps with protein intake. I add some kind of fruit, almond butter (or even peanut butter) and a scroop of dry protein powder and it's absolutely delicious! Their other flavors are good as well, and adding any kind of almond butter really helps with the taste

The way Oatmeal should taste
This is a much needed way to get more protein in everybody’s diet. I see people on here complaining about the texture of the oatmeal. This is what true oatmeal really taste like and current oatmeal has been just processed down to gruel. People need to get back to eating the way our grandparents used to eat. People need to slow down and cook it on the stove and you will notice the taste is like it used to be back in the day when your mom or grandmother made it.
