Q: Does this work with the older model as far as adding cameras? Can I still use my old camera and add this in addition?

  • A: Unfortunately not. The DXR-8 PRO is using a different platform and can't work with the DXR-8 addon camera.

Q: If I purchase an additional camera for this monitor- does it do a split screen view of each camera or do you flip back and forth between the cameras to view?

  • A: You flip between cameras (or use Scan mode to auto-rotate). The regular DXR-8 PRO doesn’t do split-screen — that feature is only on the newer DXR-8 PRO SS model.

Q: If I buy 2 cameras and 2 monitors and connect each camera to one monitor so I can see both rooms at once, will the signals interfere with each other?

  • A: No interference if the two monitors are placed a few feet apart. Each DXR-8 PRO system runs on its own secure, dedicated frequency, so they operate completely independently. If you want to view both rooms on a single monitor instead of using two separate ones, we also have a newer DXR-8 PRO SS model with true split-screen viewing and simultaneous dual audio. (It’s not yet available on Target)

  • A: Yes, the screw mount on the bottom of the Infant Optics DXR-8 Pro camera unit is a standard 1/4"-20 threaded hole (the universal tripod/camera mount size). This means it is compatible with most universal baby monitor mounts, tripod adapters, flexible gooseneck arms, or crib clamps designed for 1/4" threaded connections.

To reduce strangulation/suffocation risk, follow the manual and CPSC guidance: keep all cords at least 3 feet (1 meter) from the crib and out of reach. In accordance with CPSC requirements, this product’s cables include warning tags as a reminder.

    Good image- no sound and no fix for it

    Image is clear but the sound works 25% of the time and turns off on its own without warning. Reviews online say to move the camera around with the controller- works sometimes to turn it back on but it’s very inconvenient, doesn’t always make it work, and you don’t know when it shuts off or why so you think your baby is still sleeping and then see them screaming and the monitor is silent. Seems like a pretty ridiculous problem to have with your baby monitor in 2026

    This is a great camera and monitor - you are paying for a quality product. Of particular note, their customer care is stellar. We had an issue with one of our camera's. I reached out to their support team and within 48 hours I had a new camera. I didn't have to jump through unreasonable hoops or deal with pushback (i.e. 'are you sure it's really broken?, etc.).

    Constant loud static noise

    Picture is clear and the ANR does help with the background sound of the noise machine however it regularly makes this loud static sound which is annoying & disruptive for the person using the monitor. For the price point, I would expect better so giving 3 stars for clear picture and wide view but wouldn’t recommend bc of the constant static noise you will hear. Since I’m past the return window, will keep and deal with the noise but suggest you keep looking if you’re willing to pay this expensive price.

    Only lasted 8 months

    I loved this camera until the audio stopped working. It has great picture quality (especially for making sure I could see breaths), had all of the functions I wanted, and I felt like it was worth the money. After using it consistently for 8 months, the audio started to be very inconsistent; sometimes it would work, other times not. This created a major safety concern for me, and we’ve had to figure out another option. I spoke with the brand and even after multiple troubleshooting attempts, they were unwilling to replace the item outside of the 1 year warranty ( I purchased the camera 4 months before my due date, and didn’t consistently use it until my baby moved out of their bassinet around 4 months - again, only used the camera for 8 months or so before having these issues). Unfortunately, I don’t feel comfortable not being able to hear my child, and will need to find another option as I can’t justify replacing a $200 camera every year. It was a great product while it worked, but I wouldn’t recommend this brand to anyone based on their customer service.

    Great camera for our children and an amazing customer service team. We have two cameras and both have been so easy to use and dependable. Would highly recommend this camera, I know it is on the pricier side, but it is worth every penny. Also love that it can be used without Wi-Fi!

    Reliable and Safe.

    We bought this on a whim back in 2024, and it has been amazing for us. Our second is weeks away, and we thought we wanted to upgrade, but after trying out two other baby monitors, we came back to this one and got a second camera. Only downside is the cord for the main unit frayed after 2 years, so we had to get a replacement, otherwise very reliable, simple, and never dropped signal, even on a separate level of the house.

    Stopped working after 18 mo; no customer service

    Monitor stopped working after 18 months and customer service said they couldn’t do anything but offer a discount on a new one. We had planned to purchase a brand new camera as we are expecting our second child. So… don’t buy, unless you plan on buying a new monitor before your kid even turns 2.

    I've been using the Infant Optics camera for about 6 months now and it has been great - I love that you can adjust the brightness on the screen so I can keep it on at night if needed. The quality of the video and audio is really good. Unfortunately, the battery started to die very quickly after using it for about 5 months. I reached out to the Infant Optics team and they promptly sent me a new battery and now it works great. Would recommend this monitor!!

    Starts off great then the issues arise

    This camera started off great, I loved it. Then of course about 1.5 years later (after the warranty period) the monitor stopped working. We tried everything like replacing the battery and nothing fixed it. Looked into buying a new monitor but decided to buy the whole package again since we were having another child. Well, of course, right after a year went by, the second camera we just had bought started failing. The temperature is always wrong and I hear a constant static noise. In addition, the other camera I have from the first set, has a lens issue where it can be seen when looking at the monitor. Since it’s been a year I can’t get a replacement but it’s very frustrating that for this price 1 out of 2 monitors broke and 2/2 cameras have defects. One camera is defected so much that I won’t be using it anymore. Will purchase another brand.
