Q: I'm confused. Does it hold 40 diapers, 165 or 810? Does the lid close automatically or do you have to push it down? How is it different from the Diaper Genie Signature pail?

  • A: Hi, The pail itself can hold 40 newborn diapers. The entire refill depending if it is a starter (included with the pail) or resalable version (jumbo) can hold from 165 newborn diapers or 810 newborn diapers.

Q: How do I clean it? Can I use soap and water or a cleaning solution on it?

  • A: Clean both metal and plastic parts with a soft cloth, warm water and soap. DO NOT use steel wool, stainless steel polisher, bleach or heavy detergent as these will damage the product. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.

  • A: Yes, Diaper Genie Select pail can hold adult diaper. However, note that smaller size adult diapers may fit better in the disposal opening vs XL size diapers. For larger diaper disposal opening, we suggest using our Diaper Genie Signature pail.

    Cheap Plastic Assembly for Pedal

    We received ours as a baby shower gift and used it daily for the first year of our baby's life...until the pedal to open the lid broke just out of the warranty window. We were able to still use it, but had to manually reset the pedal every time. Eventually the entire plastic assembly broke on the bottom of the can, so the pedal fell off and it became too difficult to use. Diaper Genie can't do anything since it was a shower gift and it broke just past a year of us having it, so we have since switched to a different brand.

    Works great until it doesn’t

    We love our diaper genie select. It traps the smells as well as making it easy to throw away diapers. However our first broke just after our warranty was up. To be more specific a very small piece made of plastic that holds in the metal rod allowing the foot pedal to work broke and we are unsure how. Then mere weeks after the part where you cut the bags snapped off ultimately leading us to replace the whole thing. We did go with the same one as we did love it while it was doing its job.
