Q: Does this support hdmi arc soundbars?

  • A: Yes it does but I couldn't get it to work with 2 sound bars I purchased, Samsung and Phillips. Watched many videos and read many articles and they still didn't work. They worked fine on a Toshiba TV so I know the soundbar wasn't the issue. CEC wouldn't find soundbars when searching. Used at least 5 different HDMI cables also. Still no go!!!

    I've had the TV for a couple weeks. The home screen rarely, if at all, loads. The Free TV successfully loads 1 out of 10 times. I have fiber optic internet, connection strength is always excellent. I have attempted all the suggested troubleshooting: restarting the TV, switching languages to clear cache, unplugging and holding the power on the TV to drain all power, factory reset, disconnecting from Network and reconnecting. None of the possible solutions fixes the issue. The error code returned is E003-1. Not impressed at all. I have two other smart TVs that are Samsung, no issues like this exist on them.

    Bought my third Vizio TV a few weeks ago. Loved the first two. In fact one is still absolutely perfect after about 15 years. My second one I bought a year ago and the third one - the subject of this review I bought a month ago. #3,is a disappointment. When you turn it on the picture comes up out of focus. You need to wait about 30 seconds and in then comes in to focus. That’s the short of it. Gonna call and see what they say! It’s NOT my internet connection because my LG is perfect! I’ll follow up this review and post the outcome of my call to Vizio.

    I have a built in shelf that only can accommodate a TV of a certain size. My old 32 in TV "died". I looked for a size that would fit the space and Vizio had a 40 in that was a perfect fit and a perfect price and I love the picture. Just have to learn how to use all of the features.

    I’ve had this 40 inch TV a little over a month and I’m very unhappy with the sound quality and lack of options to try and dial it in. I also have the Vizio soundbar that is not helping. I had an older and larger model tv that was great. Lots of features in settings to adjust the sound. I doubt I will keep this one I have now as it is not enjoyable . Also, cc goes off and on and sometimes will not come on. I’m hard of hearing and rely on cc to catch all the dialog..

This device doesn’t support multi-output audio (translation: you can only listen to speakers or Bluetooth hearing aids/Bluetooth headphones at one time, not both together.)

    I wouldn’t say this is the worst TV ever, but it’s definitely cheap for a reason. Here’s why I’m returning it: After unboxing the Vizio TV, I went through the setup—added my account, connected it to WiFi, signed into Google, and everything worked fine. I then hired someone to mount it high on the wall, as I purchased multiple units to use in my retail store for in-store advertising. But once the TV was mounted and powered on again, it prompted me to go through the entire setup process as if it were brand new—asking for WiFi, account setup, etc. I thought maybe it was because it had been unplugged, so I went through the steps again. Unfortunately, every time I turn it off and back on, it resets and asks for the full setup again. I gave it a few tries, but the problem kept happening. After some research, I found that this is a common issue—clearly a software defect. My advice: test your unit thoroughly before mounting or installing it. I now have to pay someone again to take it down and reinstall a replacement. In the end, trying to save money by buying a cheaper TV cost me more in time, labor, and frustration. If you ask me, skip this one and invest in a better-quality TV. I honestly doubt this one would’ve lasted a year anyway.

    Surprise Setup Cost!

    I have purchased 2 Vizio TVs in the past. My recent third purchase a 43" Full HD Smart TV, came with a surprise cost where I had to pay a (substantial) setup fee so I could get the TV to work (after the purchase). This includes Over-the-air (OTA) channels that are free. So my total cost to get this TV ballooned 41% additional increase over what I paid at the store!! There was no mention of this fee upon purchase. The time you find out about this charge is after you unpackage the TV install it and you are sitting down to start it up. It's too bad that this is now happening. Vizio makes a good product but with this surprise cost going forward I will no longer be purchasing from Vizio products in the future.
