The Roomba® Plus 505 Combo Robot + AutoWash performs exceptionally well when it is functioning properly. I often schedule it to clean while I am at work, and I come home to spotless floors. The cleaning performance itself is impressive, and I was very happy with the results initially. Unfortunately, about a month after purchasing the unit, I began experiencing recurring issues. The robot repeatedly reported that it was "lost" and could no longer navigate correctly. I followed all of the troubleshooting steps recommended in the manual, including cleaning the sensors, rebooting the device, and performing a factory reset, but none of these solutions resolved the problem. After contacting customer service, a replacement unit was sent to me. While I appreciated the support, the replacement robot worked well for only about a month before developing the exact same issue. I am now contacting customer service for a second time regarding the same recurring problem. It's disappointing because the product is excellent when it works, but having two units experience the same failure after a short period of time has made me question the long-term reliability of the product. At this point, I am uncertain whether I would purchase this model again.

Breaks - app is useless
It cleaned well for a couple months. The first one broke within a couple weeks. One of the mop wheels would not extend. We replaced it and this one lasted longer. Same issue. Now this one gets lost. It will say its trapped behind furniture when its sitting in the middle of the floor with nothing around it. Tried cleaning the lidar and sensors, but nothing helps.

Highly disappointed
This is not working as expected and I am highly disappointed. Plus, the owner's manual doesn't even include how to use the mop function, what cleaning soluton to use, or how to add cleaning solution. We have a dog who sheds daily. This Roomba model is what was recommended to buy based on the quiz I took. We have hardwood floors and area rugs. The Roomba is leaving clumps of dog hair when it transitions to a different floor type. It is also leaving too much dog hair behind. I have to go around with my regular vacuum to vacuum up everything that the Roomba doesn't get. What is the point in having a Roomba if I have to vacuum afterwards? For this amount of money and the time I am supposed to be saving, this should not be happening! It is not even hitting every clear area! I've tried it on every setting and it is still a total fail. I have troubleshooted by making sure the dust bin is clear, cleaning the roller, and wheel. Doesn't make a difference. What a rip off.

Mixed results
When this roomba works, it works well. It definitely mops better than its predecessor. I have owned mine for almost a year and have encountered a number of problems. I have had to factory reset it twice when it just seemed to forget the map and therefore wouldn't do the automated cleaning schedule. It will think its on a cliff when sitting in the middle of the floor with no obstacles near it. It frequently will go into the dock then back out and say it can't find the dock. None of these are consistent errors so troubleshooting is challenging. As I said before, when it works it is great. Unfortunately its a roll of the dice as to whether today is a good day or a bad one for it. I would not buy it again and will eventually replace it, most likely with a product from another company. Its unfortunate. I've owned many roombas over the years and some have been better than others. I have a 300 series that is dumber but much more reliable, assuming the app will actually connect with it but that's a different review. I can at least go hit its power button and it will happily clean the lower level of my house without complaint. I wish this more expensive 505 series roomba was that reliable

Too tall
I upgraded to the 505 plus combo from a 980 as I wanted something that would mop floors as well. The turret on top of the 505 means it does not want to venture under furniture like the 980 would, even though it will easily fit, and it leaves pet hair along the edges of rugs, which is likely coming off the mop heads. I like that it doesn't make the floor soaking wet and is quiet when mop drying, and the bin bag takes months to get full, despite having a cat and a dog and using it regularly. I would definitely buy Roomba again, but not one with the turret on the top.

The worst product and customer service-
Absolutely disgraceful company. I have been a loyal customer since 2015, but that ends today. I've reached out regarding a replacement for a defective, low-quality robot, only to be told they won't honor the warranty because it was purchased through bank reward points. If iRobot chooses to participate in these point programs to sell their products, they should be required to stand behind them. Instead, they use it as a technicality to abandon their customers and avoid replacing their faulty equipment. To make matters worse, they don't even provide a clear or easy way to recycle this "piece of junk" and refuse to provide a box to take it back. Do not waste your money on a company that rewards a decade of loyalty with "maintenance tips" for a machine that doesn't work. They are happy to take your money but will disappear the moment their product fails.

Squeaky Clean
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] OMG love this vaccum+mop. It vacuums so well picking up all my dogs hair. Love the sensors as it goes around toys and stuff. We use distilled water for the mopping and works great even if we have rugs will not mop on it will only vaccum on it. Emptying is loud lol but great. Charges well for my space everyday use.

No floor cleaning solution included.
I just recieved my new Roomba on Friday (05-01-26), but I can only review the vacuum portion at this time, because the floor cleaning solution was NOT included with the unit. For the price, the company should have included at least one bottle. I tried to purchase some directly from iRobot, but it's sold out. The vacuum works well. I am eager to see how well the mop function works, but I'm waiting for cleaning solution to arrive. :0(

On the positive side, the vacuum and mop combo is fantastic—having one machine handle both surfaces is a huge time-saver, and the floors look great when it's finished. However, the "automation" part falls short. I find myself having to check the app every couple of minutes to troubleshoot or "help" it get back on track. It’s a powerful cleaner, but be prepared to stay close by while it’s running.

Doesn't fit under furniture or avoid obstacles
iRobot sent me the Plus 505 combo ostensibly as a replacement for my beloved j5+ that broke its POOP Promise. But the 505 is not a replacement for the j5+: it can't go under my furniture due to the LiDAR turret, and it doesn't avoid obstacles. Most cleaning runs result in it getting stuck trying to eat a sock or cord, or on an inch-tall obstacle.

Super easy to use

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this iRobot/Roomba Plus 505 Combo Robot+Auto Wash Dock from Influencer to try for my honest review. This iRobot Roomba Plus was extremely easy to set up and start using. The mapping of the house was a little difficult and took a couple of tries to get all the areas, but I do have to say, it was so smart that seen all the obstacles and stairs while it was mapping out my house. My Roomba picks up all the dirt and goes back to the dock to empty. This Roomba also washes my floor flawlessly with special pads on the bottom of the Roomba. It also has 2 containers, one that holds the water and solution, and the other one that is used to empty the dirty water. The battery life last a very long time, and notifies me when it is low. The best part is the App. that I downloaded I can use my Roomba at anytime and anywhere. The App also informs me of any issues or replacements that I need. I love my iRobot Roomba Plus, it cuts my cleaning in half, and I highly recommend this Roomba to minimize your cleaning time.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] if you’re looking for convenience, ease of use, and overall satisfaction of your floors, look no further. i love this thing and i originally was a hater! could you believe it?!!! for context, i already have a regular vacuum at home and thought it would be enough but sometimes vacuuming the whole house is just one less thing on the to do list that you don’t need to do. i have it scheduled to make its round daily on the whole house and it keeps the house clean! it knows when it needs to recharge so it goes back to its post to power up again. it picks up everything - we see it in the dust bin. although it is loud, if you run it when you’re not home it’s not really an issue. i am a believer now and i can’t recommend it enough. i run it frequently and have not noticed any leaks or issues. it’s super solid!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought a cheap robo-vacuum when we moved into our home, but it was never great at getting around tight spots, in corners, or doing mopping. I usually had to go around and manually mop and vacuum some spots after it was done. This iRobot Roomba is so, so much better. It actually gets into corners and around chair legs, and it does a great job at mopping (look at that gross mop water! That’s what it got off our floors after just a couple days of normal life). I like that you can customize a lot in the app, like if I just want it to mop the bathroom and vacuum the kitchen, I can set it to do that. It also does a great job at switching between mopping and vacuuming, like when it goes between the floor and our rugs. It’s a little bit slower than my old vacuum but I think that’s because it goes over spots multiple times to make sure it got everything. And it hasn’t gotten stuck on anything yet, which was a huge inconvenience with our old vacuum. We run the Roomba at night once a week and our floors have never looked better!

The app gives you usage and maintenance information so you know when you need new supplies. The dustbin empties and it’s the smartest vacuum mop. obsessed.
