Betty Crocker Delights German Chocolate Cake Mix - 13.25oz

I was disappointed with this cake mix. I usually make a homemade German Chocolate cake, but I was just too busy with all of the holiday things I had to do so I thought I would take a shortcut and try your box mix. After reading numerous posts that said the cake turned out dry and crumbly I decided to "doctor" it up a bit before baking it. Just like in my homemade version I added a box of Bak**'* German Sweet Chocolate that I melted with 1/2 a cup of water thinking that might make the cake more moist. I believe it did, but it was still a bit dry and crumbly. It also was kind of bland even with the added chocolate. I made homemade German Chocolate Icing which helped a lot with the taste. With so many bad reviews saying the same thing about this mix I think SOMEBODY in your Quality Control Dept should rethink the recipe. I think "Betty" would be disappointed with the bad reviews, too.

I always use the German Chocolate cake mix. The only problem I have had with it is it crumbles. No matter what I do it always has crumbles. Flavor is good.

Betty Crocker, I wish you would consider bringing back your German chocolate frosting in a box to be made on the stove. That was the very best. The frosting in a tub just doesn’t have the flavor or consistency as the box. Sincerely, Wendy

This cake mix is definitely different. Made these for my mom's birthday and the frosting we made from scratch was amazing but the cake itself really seems to be lacking flavor or something?? I will be purchasing other brands in the future it was so off-putting. Also it's really dumb it makes 21 cupcakes now and now 24 but that's a whole other story.

Delicious!!!!! Just made cupcakes using this mix and was blown away at how fluffy and airy and yummy the cake was!!!! Absolutely freaking delicious! Note that I used a mix that called for 1 1/4 cups of water... not sure if the mix has a newer and not-as-good version based on another reviewer's unhappy remarks.

I'm not sure what you changed but I definitely noticed a difference in the taste and consistency of the product. I don't have my old box to compare but I made this frequently and used to add 1 1/4 cup water. Now it calls for 1. The cake is dry and lacks flavor. I will not be buying more unless you change it back. The newer version just isn't as good.

My adult daughter loved it when I made it for her and my grandson! She said that it was every bit as delicious as the German chocolate cakes she remembers from childhood.

Very dry and followed the instructions exactly. Was not what i expected it also had a bland flavor and the frosting barely was enough to frost a 9×13 pan . very disappointed and wasted my money and time!

It's not so bad that I threw it away, I did eat it, but I will not buy again. I made this per instructions and frosted with BC German Chocolate frosting. PRO's... Easy to make and moist. CON's... Bland (without the frosting I would throw it away). Too fluffy or airy. Instructions say to mix with mixer on medium speed or beat vigorously by hand for two minutes. So I used the mixer for two minutes and I think it beat a lot of air into it. It appeared to be fully mixed after one minute using the mixer, but I did it two minutes per instructions. Grammatically that is how it can be interpreted. If they don't mean to use a mixer for two minutes, and only until mixed, then they should edit the instructions to make this more clear.

I really wish the instructions on how to layer it where included on the box. It just explains the pan sizes to use and how long. Nothing to specify if multiple cake pans are needed or if the cake mix in the box is even enough for that second layer like a traditional German chocolate cake. Don't advertise the layer on the picture if the instructions aren't included on how to layer it

This cake is definitely very moist, flavorful and cures that chocolate sweet tooth. I made this cake mix along with a chocolate mousse for the middle layer filling.

Easy instructions, came out amazing! I followed the recipe and the timing. Cake was very soft and delicious.

Used this cake mix to make German Chocolate Cake cookies and they came out perfect! Soft, moist, and soooo delicious!

I like Betty Crocker Cake Mixes!! They are so moist. German chocolate is one of my favorites. The price is reasonable. I am satisfied and would recommend this product to others.

We've accidentally added more eggs than the recipe indicates but the cake came out absolutely incredible. Also works great for brownies. It is moist, rich in flavor and tastes like a nice steakhouse chocolate cake dessert. Definitely recommend to everyone who likes rich chocolate cake.

My husband purchased this for my birthday and I was a little bit hesitant to try it, as I usually don't prefer chocolate flavored cakes. Map my father-in-law long day and I just had a taste and it is very delicious and moist. Worth a try. Especially with the paired frosting.

This is a great cake if made right the instructions are so simple mix it with a hand mixer for 3 min.f or best results. It will make the cake like air. It’s I’ll be so moist and fluffy, as long as you don’t forget every ingredient.

I made this cake and around 4 others only to get cakes that don’t rise are flat, dry and a strange taste.Wife’s home made is so much better when she has time to make it.
