Q: whats the differrence on the various types of systane?

submitted by h2ogram - 10 months ago
  • A: Thanks for your interest in Systane! I'll try to stay high level and give you our contact information if you'd like more information. Systane Ultra is fast relief for mild to moderate dryness. Systane Complete is an all-in-one for all dry eye types best for mixed/severe dry eye and lasts up to 8 hours. Systane Hydration is deep hydration for post-LASIK/cataract surgery to help with severe dryness. Systane Balance is one of our older drops that was made for Evaporative dry eye best for Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, but we are seeing more and more people switching to Systane Complete for longer lasting relief. Systane Gel Drops are for overnight/severe dry eye relief and is a thicker formula than daytime drops. Systane Nighttime is our maximum overnight lubrication in both gel or ointment for chronic dry eye. Systane Pro is Alcon's fastest, and longest lasting daytime formula. It launched in 2025, with triple action relief from all types of dry eye and lasts up to 12 hours! I hope this helps, but please reach us at alcon.medinfo@alcon.com if you have any follow up questions!

Q: What is the pf on box

submitted by ronish - 10 months ago
  • A: PF stands for Preservative Free. If you are used to preserved drops, you will notice the bottle is different. The preservative free bottle has a valve to prevent air from entering the bottle. The bottle is designed to release one drop at a time. I hope that helps! Thanks for your interest in Systane!

Poor Packaging Choice

Drops are fine but why would they package them in a flat-topped bottle!? Hard to get into the eye with no pointed tip.

Box was damaged upon drive up pick up

Received these as part of a drive up order and the box was smashed and partially opened. This has become a regular thing with drive up orders. I’m not sure why they put these items in a bag and expect that the customer won’t even care that they are damaged or defective.

PF dropper may be unfamiliar

FYI to everyone about the bottle design: preservative free eye drops have a different dropper style than traditional eye drops with preservatives. This is standard, not a redesign for marketing. As I can only use preservative-free prescription eye drops, I was already aware, but others may not know. Unless you get single use packaging, all preservative-free eye drops utilize this style.

My eyes feel much better

Much better than the preservative option. I’ve been using systane ultra with preservatives eyedrops since I had my lasik surgery 6 years ago. They seemed to stop working so I wanted to switch to preservative free, but I hate the vials. Luckily they come in this bottle now so I tried it and it was a world of a difference. My eyes felt much better, I was using eyedrop less often, and my vision improved. Then I ran out of them one night and had to go back to the eyedrop with preservatives and my eyes didn’t feel as good anymore so the next day I went out and got another bottle of the preservative free and my eyes felt better again. I definitely recommend. The bottle is annoying though; it’s harder to squeeze out a drop, and sometimes an extra drop comes out while you’re moving the bottle away from your eye, wasting a drop. And there’s always a drop left sticking to the dropper. So to not waste that drop I touch it to my eye lash and let it slide into my eye. But as annoying as this bottle is it’s still more convenient than the vials but also more expensive.

Pass

I’m 6 weeks post lasik and needed something during the day to hydrate my eyes. Refresh brand bottle usually lasts me 1 week-1.5 weeks. This bottle lasted me FOUR days. For $15! Terrible bottle design too, making it difficult to get out. Product is good but thicker than Refresh years and did leave more buildup on my lashes. Won’t buy again.

Huge liability ***do NOT buy!!

Bought this in August 2024, expiration date says March 2026. Went to put drops in this morning, part of the drop luckily landed on my lash line and not in my eye, it was a dark brown color. This is what my bottle looks like. I better not get an eye infection from this!!!

Great product

These were recommend for my 5 year old while having extreme redness from dry eyes. At first we didn’t understand the concept of the bottle being preservative free but then got the hang of it and now also see everyone frustration since we use it on our son and not ourselves. We don’t have any waste and every squeeze is a perfect amount of droplet in the eye. The use is completely different than a traditional bottle, it must be used completely flat and upside down. The bottle cannot be used at an angle, the drop won’t fall out perfectly. We will continue using this bottle type.

Great drops/Awful dropper design

I’m with other reviewers…the product itself is great, but the bottle design is horrible. If you don’t dry it off after each squeeze in the eye, the drops pool on the flat surface and don’t end up in your eye. Like others, I’ve waisted a good portion of the bottle. Bottle dropper design is horrible!

Love this stuff!

This is my new favorite! I've got dry eye pretty bad and this is moisturizing without the preservatives in one handy bottle instead of having to have half full single use preservative free bottles all over the place. Great price too. Definitely recommended 👌

Post LASIK!

I am 3 days post surgery and I really enjoy this dropper! I bought this and the individual packaged ones! This dropper works great and is very hydrating. I don’t even feel my eyes are that dry at all!! I don’t see why there are complaints regarding packaging. It is just as easy as the individuals and maybe even more convenient. You just have to carry one bottle and can reuse it unlike the individuals!

Ridiculous bottle design

The liquid product itself is fine, but this has to be the dumbest bottle design I have ever seen. It’s complicated for no reason, and drops are wasted at every use.

Great Product!

I like this product a lot! I’ve been waiting for systane to come up with a PF bottle for their classic Ultra PF formula. You just need to remember to shake off the excess collected at the tip after every use so it doesn’t accumulate and become sticky. It’s in the instructions and some people seem to have not read it. In fact, the whole reason why this whole mechanism is used is for the “Preservative-Free” aspect that isn’t normally there for bottled drops. So, it’s not just a useless gimmick that’s there for the sake of being new. In fact, you actually save money and don’t waste as much compared to the normal disposable preservative free drops. I’m not paid or sponsored, it’s just annoying to see people not get the purpose of the mechanism and complain when they aren’t even using the product correctly.

Bottle is awful, drops are fine - but ruined by the bottle

I don't know what this company was thinking with this bottle, but the dropper design is awful. I'm not a frequent user of eyedrops - just using them out of necessity after LASIK - so I don't find appeal with gimmicky new designs. The top is too flat, so it retains residual liquid which collects contamination. The flat top also makes the drop slide sideways and blob larger than it should, and just leaves a mess and wastes product. Just wish they would use the traditional style of dropper. Nothing excessive and "new" for the sake of being new, while being unsanitary and bumbling in the process. All I want is a basic, simple, compact pointed tip dropper bottle, like I got during the procedure. That bottle dispenses drops perfectly and with no mess.

Great!

These preservative free eye drops were amazing! They were easy to use and high quality. I liked that they were effective but did not have a bunch of preservatives or dyes. I would recommend this!
