I was NOT expecting this. I loved the original Hope In A Jar. Then when I couldn't find it anymore, around 2014, I stumbled upon the Renewed Hope in a Jar, and I had actual hope. I was not pleased with it. That turned me away from Philosophy for about 10 years. Then i saw this. When I finally had the motivation to look at Philosophy again and get that beloved Hope In A Jar, I looked for it and found what I believed was IT. I washed, toned and prepped my skin for a luxurious moisturizer, and then my face immediately started burning, especially around my nose. I was not expecting this and I was definitely not welcoming this. Once I inspected the jar, i realized it was Hope In A Jar--Smooth Glow. I don't know what that "smooth glow" is supposed to do, but it's definitely NOT smooth OR moisturizing.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This moisturizer does feel smoothing as the packaging says. It’s not heavy or greasy at all, and it doesn’t have a strong smell. Currently it’s not quite hydrating enough for my very dry skin, but I’ll probably use it more this summer, especially on vacation in more humid places. It works well with other hydrating products though, which is nice. I like the lightweight feel and the fact that it has glycolic and hyaluronic acid.

Dries comfortably. I don't see anything noticeable in my skin like wrinkle control or anything (yet) but my face is incredibly soft and I have way less breakouts. So to me that's a win! I will purchase more!

It’s challenging trying to find a facial moisturizer that doesn’t make my skin real oily or cause the acne to be worse. This stuff has been so amazing. It’s super lightweight & absorbs into my skin easily. It doesn’t make my skin oily & I haven’t noticed it causing any new acne. Actually my acne is clearing up since using this! I was my face every night & then apply this & I also haven’t had any dry patches. I’m SO HAPPY to have found this!! If you struggle with finding products to help you love your skin, definitely try this!!

It has a thick, creamy consistency and a faint, natural, barely there scent. It absorbs quickly and easily and keeps your skin hydrated all day. The only downside is that it does not contain any SPF, nor is it made with natural ingredients.

It has an almost velvet like texture that glides on so smooth. Not only is it easy to apply, but it soaks in faster than most moisturizers I’ve tried. It leaves a nice smooth finish, and a fresh glow. A major benefit to this for me is that it seems to keep my oily complexion at bay. I usually have to blot my face a few times throughout the day due to my shiny complexion. But I definitely don’t do it as often with this moisturizer. That was an added benefit I wasn’t expecting. It also seems to even out my complexion and my skin looks so fresh. It comes in a convenient jar, and has a very faint citrus like scent. All of that combined with powerhouse ingredients make this a winner!

The formula absorbs quickly and works beautifully under makeup. However, I have fungal acne, and unfortunately, this moisturizer isn’t fungal acne-safe. After a few uses, I noticed some flare-ups, which was disappointing since the overall feel and performance of the product are really solid. If you don’t deal with fungal acne, it’s a great everyday moisturizer. But if you’re sensitive to certain ingredients, especially related to fungal acne, I’d proceed with caution.
