Hello louisianasue! I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having keeping your doorbell connected. You may have an issue with the signal strength from your home Wi-Fi which is usually the cause of a device dropping connection often. You can check this by going in to the Blink app on your smartphone and tapping the 3 dots on your device to bring up the device settings. From there, you would tap General Settings. Here you can see the signal strength as well as the Sync Module connection strength if using a Sync Module with it. If the signal is not close enough, you may need a Sync Module, or to move your router closer to the doorbell to get a better connection. I would recommend contacting Blink Customer Support at 833.392.5465 for further troubleshooting options available. I hope this helps improve your experience some and that you have a tremendous day!

Hi Knoceda28! Thank you for the feedback! If you find your battery life draining at a higher rate than usual it can be due to high usage. Try one or more of the following to decrease your camera's high usage: Please ensure you are using the suggested battery type which is size AA 1.5 volt Lithium non-rechargeable batteries. Other batteries will not last as long. If your doorbell is also wired please ensure the connections are properly secured. Reposition your camera if you're receiving false motion notifications, and Shorten the length of your motion clip. Lower your camera's sensitivity setting and set up Activity Zones to prevent excessive motion clips or false alerts. You can also ensure that your camera has at least 3 bars of signal strength for the camera to Wi-Fi. Hello, musicloverjessica. I'm sorry to hear about the connection issue you're experiencing with your Blink Doorbell. There are some troubleshooting measures you can take to try and fix the problem. I recommend rebooting your Wi-Fi router. Unplug your Wi-Fi router for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Restarting your router can help when your Wi-Fi is slow or stops intermittently. Also, Check the connection between your Wi-Fi router and your doorbell. You can do this by tapping the more icon at the bottom right of the doorbell's thumbnail image and selecting Device Settings, tapping General Settings then locate Network and confirm the Connection to Wi-Fi is sufficient. If these steps do not help and you are still experiencing issues, contact Blink customer support at (781) 332-5465. I hope this helps, have a great day!

Waste of time and money

The only reason this got 2 stars (rather than 1) is because it was good for the short time that it actually worked, and because Blink sent replacements twice after troubleshooting and determining my units were defective. After working for a while, it would suddenly go offline or into "Event Response" mode and would not connect again. I followed all of the troubleshooting steps many many times, and then contacted customer service who had me follow the same troubleshooting steps yet again, and then send a replacement unit. Twice. Because I chose to contact them via email instead of phone (there is no chat option), it was a very long process because it took at minimum a full day for them to respond and sometimes several days. And I agree with other reviewers about the batteries-- it requires expensive lithium batteries and they get eaten up quickly, even with a wired unit. I bought a Ring and am very happy with it so far.

Batteries or Wired?

Thought the advertisement of “Batteries or Wired” meant the doorbell could be directly wired to the doorbell and run off of that wiring with the batteries acting as a sort of auxiliary power source if power were to go out. The wired option in question is just for using the actual doorbell in the house which doesn’t work for me either. Like many others the batteries died after a week of use. I’ll be returning soon.

Battery life

Wanted one for a while and finally got one for Christmas. The setup process was very easy. I didn't have the setup for a wired doorbell, so I had to opt for the batteries. Setup was easy used mounting tape. At first, I used the batteries that came with the doorbell, which were the alkaline batteries. For the first two weeks, it was great no issues. The videos were clear. I have a lot of traffic in my neighborhood, so a lot of videos were recorded. After a few days, the batteries died. Switched them out for Duracell batteries, which only lasted two days. Read online to use lithium batteries only lasted for 7 days. Took it back, not sure if it was a defective item or not, didn't want to go through the hassle with the same problem.

The Blink Doorbell battery life is expected two years based on default settings. Battery life will vary based on device settings, use, and environmental factors. Things that can affect battery life: Slow internet connection speeds use batteries faster. Extreme heat and cold can affect battery performance. Weak signal strengths between Blink devices, and the Wi-Fi network, can increase battery consumption. Note: Blink cameras are only compatible with size AA 1.5 volt Lithium non-rechargeable batteries. You can monitor battery level in the Blink app, by tapping Device Settings and then General Settings. Battery strength indication is either OK or Needs Replacement. As a warning, the Blink app will display a "High Usage" alert message when your camera settings are likely to cause higher than normal battery consumption. Try one or more of the following to decrease your camera high usage: Reposition your camera if you're receiving false motion notifications. Shorten the length of your motion clips. Reduce your use of Live View. Lower your camera's sensitivity setting. Set up Activity Zones to prevent excessive motion clips or false alerts. If possible, only arm your camera when no one is home. Reduce the amount of time your camera is armed when at home. This can be automated by enabling Scheduled Arming. Individually arm and disarm certain cameras within a system. Ensure that your camera has at least 3 bars of signal strength for camera to Wi-Fi. If you are still having issues with the functionality of the Echo Dot, Amazon Customer service is available 24/7 for assistance on the device. You can reach them at 1-888-280-4331. This doorbell is horrible. Never connects fast enough to see who is at the door. By the time it actually loads the person is gone. Also doesn’t record anything and send movement notifications like it is supposed to.

Hello Camera! I am so sorry for the trouble you are experiencing with your Blink doorbell. There are a couple of things you can do for the recording options such as either use the optional Blink Storage Plan (subscription required after free trial) which uses a cloud based system to record and save your video clips that you can access directly from the Blink smartphone app. Or you can purchase a Sync Module 2 which is an accessory sold separately that connects your device to your Wi-Fi instead of connecting your doorbell directly to Wi-Fi which does a couple things. It will double your battery life while also allowing you an option to store video locally onto your own USB thumb drive or flash drive allowing you to access them through the app as well. As for the issues of your device taking too long to connect or notifying you correctly, I would recommend contacting Blink Customer Support at 781.332.5465 to troubleshoot further with them to see what else may be causing this. (Though the Sync Module 2 may help with this as well if there is a Wi-Fi connection issue.) I do hope this helps improve your experience and that you have a terrific day!

Sure easy setup and installation, but does it work with echo show 5? No. Alexa will notify of activity but no video. No, two-way communication. I have been online with Blink support for a week trying to get help, YouTube first...tried all the things. Nada. Works great with your phone if that is your intended use for the blink doorbell.

I've had two of these doorbells for about six months, and I’ve had multiple problems with both of them. The WiFi connection drops at least once a week, the video recordings are low-quality and sometimes cut out entirely, and they lack in useful features. I will be switching to the reliable Ring doorbells when I get the chance.
