Asmodee Quacks 2024 Board Game: 2-4 Players, Strategy & War, Includes Game Pieces & Boards

I didn’t expect to enjoy this game nearly as much as I do. It seems to take closer to an hour to play, which is longer than the box time listed. In the game you draft potion ingredients to your potion bag so it works similar to deck building. The different potion ingredients have different accompanying spell books which you pick out and can increase or decrease the difficulty based on your selection. I really like the catchup mechanisms this game has- then you don’t have one bad turn and get stuck at the bottom for the rest of the game. There is the “rat tail” concept which bumps up each player’s starting position based on how far they are from the lead player with victory points. And if your potion “explodes” you still get to pick either to earn victory points or cash in your money (choose the money, thank me later). That’s not to say this game forgets the lead player, there’s a bonus dice to compete for! Really my only complaint is that the fortune teller deck isn’t big enough to have each player in a 4 player game draw a unique card every round, you end up shuffling them all back together before the end. Maybe an idea for a future expansion? If you’re on the fence about this game I do highly recommend it, it’s quickly become a fan favorite around here.

While it takes a few minutes to set up the first time, the core push-your-luck mechanics are super fast to learn—even for our 6- and 9-year-olds. Between simultaneous play keeping everyone engaged and variable ingredient books changing up strategy, it offers endless replay value.

In spite of an image showing "Bakelite" style chips, this is the "Standard" edition which has only cardboard chips (see image showing a board). The new publisher is also *not* selling the two game expansions separately and says they never will. If you want those, one of which adds a 5th player, you have to purchase the "All-In Edition." The "Deluxe Edition" upgrades the cardboard chips to bakelite chips.

This game is a regular in my family's and friend's game rotation! This game isn't too complex to understand and our game-loving and non-game-loving friends alike enjoy this game. Highly recommend!

One of my new favorite games! It looks so much more complicated than it actually is. So easy to learn and so fun.

Great game for the family! This game is just a ton of fun. You brew potions with spider parts, toad-stools, and other assundried bits you pull out of your resource bag, all in the hopes of scoring points. But you not only play against others, but against yourself, because every round you have to fight the temptation to pull out ONE too many items from the bag, in which case that round's potion explodes! Just straight out fun. I am a heavier gamer and love it. My teens are reluctant gamers and love it. Great visuals, easy to learn, and fun pieces. As you get more adept, you can also add complexity. Must buy. And the revised version's graphics are just great. My only regret is not getting the delux version that has bigger, plastic pieces. Can easily be played in 30 minutes after the first time.
