A: Hi Firas - this is a carpet cleaner and not a dry vacuum. We recommend dry vacuuming first before use.

You need to vacuum with a regular vacuum prior to using this carpet cleaner as it will clump up a bunch of hairs if not but it will generally pick up any other hairs regular vacuuming does not catch as well and you have to clean out the unit after. I am not sure about fleas though. I have 2 rescue dogs and they both get monthly Frontline flea treatments so I have never noticed any fleas. I apologize that I cannot help you with that answer. They do piddle on the carpet sometimes so this is great especially if I need to spot clean. My routine is to vacuum first then use this as a carpet cleaner. They have a couple of different Bissell brand products to choose from ranging from Pet Antibacterial Cleaners and Deep Cleaners which works wonderfully in my opinion. I am very happy with my Carpet Cleaner. It does take time to clean and you have to allow time dry with no walking on it unless you have clean, bare feet. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you.
submitted byErs1968 - 8 years agoA: I've never known a carpet cleaner, in itself, to kill fleas. You need treatments specifically targeting those. (You might try adding a little Dawn Dish Soap to the cleaning solution and to your dog's bath, though. It's as safe as any shampoo and is known to kill fleas.)

Q: How does this model perform on shag like area carpet? The carpet is Olefin and about 3/4 of an inch deep.

A: It did a great job on my large area rug that is “shag” like. It is a beautiful rug but the high pile attracts a lot of dirt. I’ve only gone over it once (have two large dogs and it is in a high traffic area that hasn’t been deep cleaned in over a year) and it already looks (and feels) so much more clean. Highly recommend!

A: We recommend dry vacuuming thoroughly prior deep cleaning your carpet. To clean the brush rolls, lay the machine down with the bottom of the foot facing up and there is a comb included for cleaning the brushes. Hope this helps!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was my second choice. My first choice was the ProHeat 2X® Revolution® Pet Pro Plus Carpet Cleaner but it was out of stock. I'm using it for periodic cleaning of my homes carpet. So far I'm impressed with the cleaning ability and how quickly the carpet dried. Cleanup was fairly easy. I did find it extremely difficult to clean the clear plastic area above the roller without removing the roller.
Made a vast improvement in the smell and look of our carpet.

It was the best decision we have made in a long time. It was like day and night compared to what we were using. It was so much lighter and easy to use. We had family coming over in a few days and our carpet was looking old and dirty as well as the smell wasn't that good as well. I have really liked Bissell products and wanted to try their carpet cleaner out. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!! It helped make the carpet look better than it has in a long time and made the whole house smell incredible. Thank you Bissell.

But..cleaning the machine itself is a chore, I would in a heartbeat upgrade to the next model, where the rollers pull out of the way for cleaning. If it's hard to clean ( I personally) will eventually not clean it well...leading to a future breakdown. I hope this helps you decide.

This is literally the loudest sound i've ever heard. It sounds like a helicopter is floating a foot above your house. There is no power button so as soon as you plug it in you are instantly deaf. Also smelled like it was on fire when i plugged it in first time for five minutes. Kind of want to return and get a Hoover, as my last bisell starting smoking and making a burning smell. This was the replacement but one use and it’s equally as trash. Sad I threw the box out. Still might try and take it back to target

This machine works wonderfully. Freshens up area rugs to make them look new again. The carpets are cleaned quickly and easily. The machine is easy to use, easy to load the shampoo and easy to clean when finished. All in all it exceeded my expectations.

First, the trigger stopped working after 2 uses, which only included a stair landing that’s approximately 6 ftx 4 ft. Also, when attaching the handheld brushes, the main bristles continue to spin. The main cleaner is too bulky to use on stairs, so when using the handheld, the vacuum slipped and the cord immediately got sucked into the machine and stripped the cord resulting in smoke and sparks. After 3x of minimal use since May, I will never purchase Bissell products again. I will provide pictures if requested, cleaner is already in the trash, though. Bissell did agree to fix the cleaner; however it’s not worth packing up the entire cleaner.

Suction works well. Bristles don’t stop spinning when upright or when using hand tool. Hand tool spay is very positional and hardly works. Ergonomically difficult to carry and move around house.

Yes, it has removed every single mess my (unbelievably messy) dog has made on my rug and carpet. But that one pro doesn't come close to outweighing the seemingly endless cons: 1) no matter how carefully I try to roll it from room to room, a trail of liquid (dirty? clean? I have no idea) follows. So then I have to clean the hardwood floors as a result of cleaning the carpet 2) the dirty water tank spills a puddle worth of dirty liquid if I don't immediately position it horizontally after taking it out 3) unless you have a pet that sheds VERY minimally, this carpet cleaner isn't for you. Piles of dirty, wet hair build up in the brushes and nozzle. While I get this can't necessarily be avoided for pets that are heavy shedders, this product was (based off the name) made with pets in mind. So why wasn't it built to allow the brushes to be removed and cleaned without having to use a screwdriver each time? I instead have to clean out the brushes and area it's in by rolling the brushes around and removing all the dirty hair globs by hand, which isn't easy. And is unnecessarily gross 4) the nozzle lid apparently has to be snapped back on using a very specific method, because it takes me multiple tries every single time 5) I wouldn't mind the bulkiness of this product if it were in any way easy to deconstruct. Trying to unsnap the handle from the main part is in NO way as easy as the video makes it look 6) it would have been nice if the money used towards producing a pointless separate carry handle and providing the needed screws was instead used towards providing a physical user manual that's actually helpful. I don't enjoy having to search for the applicable video on Bissell's website each time I have a question about using this carpet cleaner (which is often). Especially when only about 15 seconds of the 3 minute video is spent towards answering my question

I researched which carpet cleaner would be best for pet stains and odors, this product had great reviews so I decided to purchase it. I have cleaned my carpet once using the carpet cleaning solution that came with the product and my Pug has not used my carpet as a puppy pad since. I also love the hair removal tool that it comes with, it makes it easy to remove dog fur that sometimes catches in the suction portion of the cleaner. Plus this unit is light enough for me to carry, I suffer from sciatica and a herniated disc. If you're thinking about getting this product, don't think anymore and buy it
