A: This is my favorite carpet cleaner ever! I've always used a mixture of either Mrs. Meyers, or Mrs. Meyers and 1/4 cup bleach (never bleaches my carpet, only santizes it) and I've used even laudry soap and bleach (small amounts of each) and have had exceptional results. I think they want you to use the Hoover brand cleaners for obvious reasons, but I've always used other methods when I ran out of the cleaner that comes with the machine. If your uneasy about the bleach mixture try a little on a small patch first. But I've always put about a 1/4 cup in my full water tank to sanitize my carpet. Love it.

The reason I chose this machine was because it claims "Auto Dry delivers powerful extraction with HeatForce™ for faster drying". That is exactly why I chose this model. The machine is supposed to use warm air to speed up the drying process, this NEVER happened. Not only did this machine not extract the water/soap, I had to use a shop vac to do it. My first issue with this machine was that there is no way to empty the dirty water reservoir without making a mess, I believe it's a poor design. The second issue is that the dry feature quit working. Of course, none of the troubleshooting tips were of help. I had a living room floor that was wet from the 'wash' phase and could not get the machine to extract it. I had to leave my house and find a shop vac to suck up the water. I was beyond frustrated. I should have returned the machine immediately, but failed to do so. I believe the front of the machine needs to be lower and heavier to enable proper extraction. My third issue is more of a suggestion. It would be nice if there were a way to clean the bottom of the machine, the rollers, cover, etc. without dragging around the cord. If the cord could be made to be removable for cleaning, that would be a game-changer. PS. Have you noticed when Hoover responds to the reviews, no matter the problem, they have a standard reply "Please visit our Hoover Support library https://hoover.com/pages/product-support-library to access our video library and choose other support options." The Customer Support is a joke, they don't offer any real help or compensation, just useless form-letter instructions.

Within a few (3-4) uses the dry function stopped working. I’ve done every troubleshooting criteria, without success. Quite disappointing. The initial uses were awesome; I’d looked forward to keeping it for a few years as it was an expensive purchase.

my husband surprised me with this for Christmas 2024. It has only worked properly twice since then. The brushes won't spin, they try to then stop and it flashes wash and dry and says dry only. I have cleaned the brushes and the hoses many many times and still nothing! Completely a waste of money. I really wanted to like this carpet cleaner.

This is the second one and both units worked flawlessly for about 15 minutes. Then it stopped working, would turn on, but brushes wouldn't spin and soap leaked out of the side. While it was working it was great, but it gave out. I am returning today for refund, there seems to be some flaw in machine, or maybe I am doing too much trying to shampoo a 10x12 carpeted floor, when it worked it was great, see pics. However I couldn't finish the room. And yes I cleaned the filter.

I just bought this carpet shampooer today and wow am I impressed I’ve already gone through two diesels in the last couple years and this one by far put those a shame. The amount that it cleaned and the amount of water is suctioned up was incredible I would highly recommend this one

after we bought a new house 2 of the 3 bedroom carpets we wanted to save but knew our powerdash wouldn't be big enought so we bought this and one pass almost got rid of a stain we thought would be perminate but after round 2 it was completely gone, and in the other bedroom the carpet went from yellow to white

This Hoover smart wash carpet cleaner does clean the carpets well, however, it does not extract the water well, even though it has a dry only option. Definitely not as good as the older Hoover version was. The carpet takes quite a bit of time to dry; at least 3+ hours.

This is the easiest to use, upright carpet cleaner that I've ever used. I did better with it than the $500 professionals did last year. Follow the instructions and vacuum well before you start. I used a high-quality professional grade cleaner that I bought online.

When I first bought the cleaner I was so impressed. However after 6 months of minimal use (maybe 10 times) the cleaner has now stopped working. It actually started smoking and burning. Super disappointed. This vacuum was not mistreated, overused or stored improperly. I always used Hoover cleaning solution, and still it broke.

It worked for about six months before the plastic molding that clipped together to hold the brush cover broke and I couldn’t get suction anymore because the mechanism was now loose. I discovered this when trying to dry the floor and couldn’t.

Absolutely love this machine and I make my own solution with hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, dish soap and warm water. Works fantastic and the dirty water shows the nasty grime it picked up.

I have had mine for two years. It has always worked very well. Love that you don’t have to hold down a lever to get to wash. Also like that you don’t have to measure and mix the cleaning fluid. One problem I just had was the cleaning fluid is leaking out. Will need to get it repaired. This is the only reason I didn’t give it five stars. When it’s not leaking it is the easiest and best carpet cleaner I have owned.
