Q: I just received this, and there is a small clear plastic piece on top of the metal tube that runs up the middle of the inside (where the max fill line sits). Am I supposed to take this off or leave it on? There is no mention of it in the manual. Thanks!
A: I've had mine off for a couple of months now and haven't had any issues. I make sure to cover the metal tube opening with my finger when filling this up with water just so no water gets inside accidentally.

Q: My first time using this it started to leak for the bottom. Has anyone had this happen to them?
A: Please reach out to our customer service team at support@bodum.com and provide further details so that we can investigate and determine if this is a defect, which would make you eligible for a free replacement as part of the product's 2-Year warranty.
submitted byBodum - 6 years agoBrand expertA: Did you remove the plastic hood inside the pot? It’s to keep water from getting into the tube, this is used to detect boiling.
submitted byOINC - 6 years agoA: Yes, mine leaked right away. There are some serious quality control issues here. Target gave me a refund, and I now have a flower pot - for artificial flowers, since I don't want water to leak everywhere.

Q: I purchased this kettle because my ceramic kettle stopped working suddenly after a year, did anyone notice the water boiled in this kettle is not as hot as other kettles (if you've used any before) that held bigger water capacity and high wattage of 1500?
A: I was able to boil about 16oz of water in 2 1/2 minutes. Boiling water is 212 degrees. I don't know how it could be less hot if its boiling... It'd have to be at least 212 degrees.
submitted byMatt - 7 years agoA: Maybe the water cools off faster because the stainless steel doesn't retain heat the way ceramic does?

Q: is there any plastic in this kettle? I'm looking for one that has no plastic parts (including handle) I'm ok with Wood but not plastic.
A: Yes, there is a small plastic piece on the inside of the kettle. Also I think the handle also has it on the top of the lid.
submitted byMatt - 7 years agoA: I don't see any plastic aside from a small piece inside of the kettle that I was able to remove and continue using without issue.

Q: Does the light not turn on? I just used mine for the first time and the light doesn’t turn on
A: Thank you for your question! The amber light on the side of the base of the MELIOR Gooseneck Electric Water Kettle is designed to illuminate while the switch is pressed down and the kettle is on. Once the water boils, the switch will flip back up and the light will go out. Please note that the light is not very bright, so it may be difficult to see in bright lighting. If the light does not illuminate at all, it’s possible that the internal bulb is defective. The kettle will still function normally, but if you would like further assistance, we encourage you to contact Target Customer Service. If you’d like to share more details about your experience, feel free to reach out to our customer service team at support@bodum.com. Hope this helps!
