Q: Should Brita filtered water read between 50-250 on a TDS water meter tester? I purchased a new Brita pitcher with filter and the three times filtered water is reading 471, the tab water reads 528.
A: Shelly, thanks for trying our Tahoe Pitcher. We're sorry you're disappointed, and we want to clarify that we don't make claims about TDS reduction at Brita, because TDS isn't a measurement of water safety. It's only an aesthetic (taste) measurement. Our filters can reduce contaminants like lead, mercury, and cadmium, among many others. If you have additional questions, please call us at 800-242-7482 and mention reference number 240318-000611. We hope this helps. Ashlee from The Brita Team

Q: I pressed both buttons underneath the lid, it flashed green, but the pitcher light has never lit up when I’ve poured water out of it. Do I need to replace the filter, and then press the buttons?
A: Hi Madelynn, thanks for reaching out. The Tahoe Pitcher’s electronic filter indicator is designed to help track filter replacement timing. After installing a new filter, you’ll want to reset the indicator by pressing the appropriate button for your filter type until the light flashes green. The light doesn’t illuminate every time you pour water; it will only change from green to yellow or red as the filter life decreases. You don't need to replace the filter unless the indicator shows yellow or red, or if it’s been the recommended time since your last change. For more details, you can visit our filter indicator instructions on our website or call us at 800-242-7482. Have a wonderful day. Jeffery from The Brita Team

Q: Does the Tahoe pitcher need to be refrigerated with water in it? Is it fine to leave it out on the countertop or are there problems with mold or bacteria this way?
A: Hi there, Katie, and thanks for reaching out with your question. You don’t have to refrigerate the Tahoe Pitcher, but we do recommend keeping it cold by storing it in the fridge. If you choose to leave it out, please place it in a cool spot away from sunlight and replace any water that’s been sitting for several days. Also, washing your pitcher, including the reservoir and lid, every one to two weeks helps stop mold or bacteria from building up. If you'd like to talk more, just give us a call at 800-242-7482. Q: Hi! Is there a way to disable or turn off the light?
A: Thanks for your question, Esther. While the indicator of our Tahoe Pitcher can't be turned off, you can rest assured that your water is still being filtered as long as you change your filter on time. To set up your indicator, hold the button on the underside of the lid under the icon for the filter you're using for at least 5 seconds. The lights will flash red and green 3 times to confirm. If you need further help, please reach out to us at 800-242-7482 and mention #250731-000398. We hope this helps. Monique from The Brita Team

Q: Does the light indicator need activated when you first start using it? Is there supposed to be a light on all the time? Either green or red?
A: Thanks for your question. Once you've inserted your filter, we recommend pressing and holding down the reset button for your filter type for five seconds. Release the button when the light flashes three times. Once you've set the indicator, the light will flash every time you pour. While we hope this helps, please reach out to us at 800-242-7482 and mention #250730-000622. Stay hydrated. Monique from The Brita Team

Q: Is the battery waterproof or does it need to be removed before washing the pitcher.
A: Thank you for asking. The batteries in the timer aren't removable/replaceable. Here are a few tips for cleaning your Brita pitcher: -Be sure to remove the filter from the reservoir. -Hand-wash your pitcher, lid, and reservoir with a mild detergent and rinse them well. -Don't put your pitcher in the dishwasher or use abrasive cleaners. (Brita pitchers are not dishwasher safe.) We hope this is helpful, and if you have more questions, call us at 800-242-7482. Have a hydrated day! Jeffery from The Brita Team

Q: Cleaning Brita Pitcher How do you separate the white insert from the clear pitcher for cleaning purposes?
A: We're glad you asked about how to remove the reservoir from our Tahoe Pitcher, and we're happy to help. Using both hands, pull the reservoir up from the housing evenly on all sides. Place a finger between the reservoir and pitcher in the spout area to help remove. Try placing your pitcher on the counter, and as it warms to room temperature, the tank will expand a little and the reservoir will be easier to remove. Another option is filling the pitcher with water, then turning it upside down in your sink. The pressure of the water should cause the reservoir to separate from the housing.
