Description
Carcassonne is a tile-placement game in which the players draw and place a tile with a piece of southern French landscape on it. The tile might feature a city, a road, a cloister, grassland or some combination thereof, and it must be placed adjacent to tiles that have already been played, in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads, etcetera. Having placed a tile, the player can then decide to place one of their meeples on one of the areas on it: on the city as a knight, on the road as a robber, on a cloister as a monk, or on the grass as a farmer. When that area is complete, that meeple scores points for its owner.
During a game of Carcassonne, players are faced with decisions like: "Is it really worth putting my last meeple there?" or "Should I use this tile to expand my city, or should I place it near my opponent instead, giving him a hard time to complete their project and score points?" Since players place only one tile and have the option to place one meeple on it, turns proceed quickly even if it is a game full of options and possibilities.
First game in the Carcassonne series.

Was able to play with my kids and they enjoyed the board game. No one cried because no one gets "eliminated." I know you can make it more challenging by adding expansion kits and stuff. The rules are simple and it's quick. I recommend!

I received this game from Asmodee and Tryazon to give my honest opinion. We loved playing Carcassonne. It's a great gamer gateway game that helps people new to the hobby transition from classic and party games to some of the more intricate games. We've been playing strategy games for a while, but ever since the tiny person joined our party, it's harder and harder to bust out the long games. So a game like Carcassonne is really perfect for us: it plays in under an hour, was relatively easy to learn, and was super fun! I also really loved how the tiles fit neatly into the box.

My family loves this game because it's unique, fun to play, and each game offers a bit of a different result based on the squares being arranged in new ways each time you play! The instructions are clear, the game doesn't take too long to complete, and we find it to be fun for everyone of all ages. Give it a try :)

A fun new game to add to our collection. We loved the building aspect. It’s nice to have a strategy game that doesn’t take forever to play through. It is made with high quality materials. I also love that you can play with just 2 people!

We loved how easy this was to pick up. Also there are so many different ways to play the game. We were able to play the easier version with our youngest and the harder version with our oldest! We all had a blast playing both!

I like that it is fast and easy to learn and can be played by 2-5 people easily. It is a great “gateway game” to some more complicated games like settlers of catan.

Great board game for large groups. We used it during our Memorial Day cookout and everyone loved, children and adults. The concept of building a village is exciting and different. The concept is easy to understand and play.

It Doesn't Need a Board to be a Board Game

For people who aren't used to modern board games, Carcassonne is a bit unique. It doesn't have cards or a board, but rather consists of tiles that get placed in different arrangements every game. But don't let the different style scare you away. It's actually a very simple game, made easier to learn by using the Dized tutorial app. It's a staple in the collections of many gamers and once you try it, you'll understand why.
A great group, family, or couples game

I played this with 1 friend and it was a great time. I then invited 4 people over so there was 5 and it was just as much fun! The best part though? Even my kids between 11 and 5 can play and understand the game. It is a little different every time by nature but the concept is so simple but still allows a good amount of strategy.
Fun!

This game is fun for all ages. It was pretty easy to learn and you can add additional rules/ scoring strategies to increase the difficulty. My 7 year old had just as much fun as my 60 year old mother-in-law! It's a great strategy game that will keep your brain sharp while letting you and the family have fun along the way!
