A: This model does not have the latch system or use tethers. The latch system for a booster seat is only to keep the seat itself in position when no one is sitting in it. The child uses a seatbelt.

The LATCH helps stabilize the seat when the child gets in and out and also keeps it in place when unoccupied. Both the GoFit Plus and the GoFit car seats must be used with a vehicle lap-shoulder belt.

On target's site, under the specification, it says 38 Inches and 57 Inches. When I received it, the packaging says 44in or taller. This could be a safety issue if someone doesn't catch that the description doesn't match the product.

The shoulder belt guide is located on the bottom of the booster seat. It is an orange color and can be disconnected for use. Please refer to page 26 of the owner's manual for assistance.

No way to secure it in car
This seat has no clips to secure it to the car, only the seatbelt when in use. I don't feel like it is safe and intend to return it and get one that has clips to secure it safely. It also has a strap with a clip that doesn't clip onto the car's seatbelt and slides down the seatbelt strap, when the illustration shows that it is to be perched on the child's shoulder. It fails to add any safety to the seat.

Not secure
There is no way to securely attach this booster to the seat. It relies solely on the seat belt and weight of the child. We thought we were purchasing the same Chicco booster we had previously bought that has clips, but it does not. I would pay this price for a booster with clips but not for one that is nothing more than a glorified armrest.

High back boosters are the safer option
e is a version of this that does latch in and I would much rather have that version if choosing between the two. Another concern of mine is the clip that comes out from the back of the booster that is meant to hold the shoulder seat belt in the proper position. It seems awkward and easily moved out of place. Like others have mentioned, I worry that if my son falls asleep he could become unsafely positioned, especially with the shoulder strap. I do appreciate the cup holders, the cushion on the seat, and the carry handle on the back. Overall I have come to the conclusion that there really is no reason to use a booster seat like this if your child still fits in a car seat with harness system. After that I will transition to a high back booster seat that holds the seatbelt in the proper position and offers additional protection from the sides. This is a friendly reminder to anyone who needs it (because I needed it for myself) that there is no reason to transition into a less safe transportation system just because the kid is big enough and old enough to. The safer system should be used until the child reaches the maximum height or weight limit. Research booster seat crash tests if you need proof.

Dear Heather, Your review is misleading. You correctly note that our GoFit backless booster has no LATCH but you use that fact to direct others not to buy the GoFit. What you seem not to understand is that belt-positioning booster seats (like the GoFit) do not use LATCH to secure an occupant. The vehicle seat belt is the means for securing an occupant in a crash. That’s true for all brands, not only ours. Any belt-positioning booster seat that does include LATCH (like our GoFit Plus) uses it purely as a convenience feature which helps retain the booster in the vehicle seating area. No belt-positioning booster seat uses LATCH as a safety device; it’s purely convenience. So, if the convenience of LATCH is important to you, by all means, purchase a belt-positioning booster with LATCH. But please refrain from any suggestion to others that a belt-positioning booster seat without LATCH is somehow unsafe. It’s the vehicle seat belt which provides the protection. We hope you’re better informed now.

Read Before Buying !!!
I recently purchased this booster for my 6yr old twins and returned it within the same week..I was highly disappointed in this brand because typically they make affordable & well made car seats, this booster on the other hand does not meet my safety standards. One of the issues i noticed very quickly was that it does not come with a latch meaning the seat WILL slide. another downside would be the fact that it does not have the edges so when your little one falls asleep they will be slumped over..it’s just not worth it in my opinion. We chose a Nuna AACE booster for both of our twins, and yes they were definitely on the pricey side however I couldn’t be happier knowing they’re comfortable with every turn I make and safe..

Based on your description is sounds like the Chicco KidFit 2-in-1 Booster Seat would have been a better fit for your family. The KidFit offers a removeable backrest and LATCH attachments. In addition the LATCH system is optional on a booster seat and is only used to keep the booster in place while not in use.

Perfect- But missing seatbelt clip
First, we did not get a seatbelt clip with our seat. I was looking to buy a second seat and saw that it was supposed to be included and installed. I’m disappointed we did not get that piece with our purchase at target. We like the simplicity of the seat. It is super easy for Grandma and Grandpa to use! We actually were going to second one for us to use in our cars too. Second, the size is great! We actually were able to sit three people in our backseat again. Our son says the seat is comfortable and it has made longer trips much more enjoyable.

Happy kindergartener, happy mom!
It was time for my kindergartner to upgrade. This booster is so easy for him. He sits in the back seat of my VW Tiguan and is able to buckle and unbuckle without issues. We have four kids, so we need to save room where we can. This booster is perfect for us!

Don't bother buying this
I went to install this and there is NO latch system…. What is the point of this? I might as well leave my kid without a booster… I promptly returned for one with a latch system. Seriously, don’t even bother buying this.

Gentle Reviewer, your review is misleading and incorrect. Allow us to help you better understand a backless booster seat and its purpose. First, the booster seat is designed to position (boost) the child passenger in the vehicle seat. This "boosting" is so that the vehicle seat belt properly fits the child passenger. The vehicle seat belt is the sole restraint in a booster seat (whether high back or no back). So the POINT of a backless booster is proper positioning of the child passenger. "Leaving your kid without a booster" would mean that your child passenger would be improperly positioned for the vehicle seat belt and, in a crash, there is risk of injury from the seat belt restraint due to improper positioning. LATCH on a booster seat is purely a convenience feature. The LATCH offers zero restraint - none - since 100% of the restraint is provided by the vehicle seat belt. The majority of booster seats sold in the USA do not have LATCH attachments. The Chicco GoFit Plus Backless Booster Seat does offer the convenience of a LATCH attachment. The LATCH will help keep the backless booster seat in its position as the child passenger boards/unboards but even with LATCH, the GoFit Plus relies completely on the vehicle seat belt for child passenger restraint. Hope this helps you better understand the purpose of a booster seat and how it interfaces with the vehicle seat belt restraint.

Will be returning. Buy the ones with the LATCH to secure the seat. My kids are heavier and taller so the seat didn’t slide but it would constantly move when they got out and back in. The arm rests are in a terrible place and I can’t believe other seats place them in the same spot. Makes the actual sitting part very narrow for their legs. The arm rest ends up being right next to their thighs.

Amanda, the majority of booster seats sold in the USA do not have LATCH attachments. Chicco offers backless booster seats without LATCH (GoFIt) and with LATCH (GoFit Plus). While it does not offer any restraint (that's provided by the vehicle seat belt) the LATCH will help keep the backless booster seat in its position as the child passenger boards/unboards. Our armrests are placed where the child's arms would rest so the positioning is purposeful. Thousands of 5-star reviews would argue that the GoFit and GoFit Plus are among the most comfortable of all booster seats sold. Let us know if you find a better seat.

Lilly, the Chicco GoFit is rated as a very comfortable backless booster seat and is recommended by thousands of consumers. Your complaint that it slid around is easily cured by the GoFit Plus, which is a version of the GoFit with LATCH connectors. Your poor review is an outlier for this product which is well loved by parents - and one only need check the thousands of positive reviews to see how unusual your response is.

Doesn’t have latch straps to secure the booster to your car seat. This booster moves out of place and requires constant readjustment. Get one with latch to keep it in place.

I’ve used car seats for nearly 17 years and have love this seat for the last few weeks! It’s much better quality than the boosters I used with my older kids. The hard plastic, the fabric and the details are all upgrades! Even the flexible cup holders make cleaning easier!

Amazing booster! As a grandmother This backless boater is the best. My grandchild can climb in and buckle himself all by himself. The seat can easily come out of my car when I don’t have my grandchildren with me. The quality of the fabric is high. I feel safe driving with this booster which is most important to me. We liked this so much I bought one for my husband’s car as well.
