Q: Can you grind grains with this?

submitted by Ginger Bloom - 9 months ago
  • A: I've been using this grinder for several years to make small batches of oat and rice flours. It works great with oats. The rice needs to be run through the grinder twice and does not get super-fine.

Q: Does anyone know if this grinder grind coffee beans beyond the espresso size to the dust powder extra fine size needed to prepare like Turkish coffee or so?

Q: Can you grind spices in this?

submitted by JA - 9 years ago
  • A: Yes, I suppose you could. It would be a little over powered for just regular kitchen use and much more work to clean out between spices. I use a small inexpensive grinder for spices, they usually are around $10.

submitted byclf - 9 years ago
  • A: You could, but it wouldn't be easy to clean a specific spice out of it. I wouldn't use it for that purpose.

submitted byTCook - 9 years ago

Q: Just bought grinder. It grinds coffee really slow. Is this normal?

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 9 years ago
  • A: You don't really want a grinder that is too fast. It builds up heat due to the speed and that can effect your beans.

submitted byclf - 9 years ago
  • A: The setting in front is for the approximate number of cups of brewed coffee in ground coffee needed. The top setting is for how fine a grind you want. The finer the grind the slower it will grind because it brings the blades closer together. A more uniform grind speed can be achieved by keeping the bean hopper full so it always puts downward pressure on the beans to enter the grinding chamber. All that being said it should grind the beans at the same rate as any other comparable grinder. I've had mine for over a year and find it to be the best grinder for under $100. Hope that helps!

    submitted byPhil C - 9 years ago

Q: I just bought this grinder. There is a mark on the dial that selects Fine/Medium/Course. Is it supposed to be screwed all the way in so mark is about 9 o'clock or is it supposed to face you.

submitted by Sandcrab3 - 9 years ago
  • A: True the white line is your guide to the type of grind you want. Align with the dots on your grinder. Good luck.

submitted byNailima - 9 years ago
  • A: The white line indicates the desired grind. it varies from fine to coarse. just twist to the the dotted marks depending on how you want it ground. most coffee makers you would use the medium setting and fine form more espresso applications.

Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill Review

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This grinder works really well. Overall I am very pleased with it. The only issue I have is that it collects A LOT of static electricity while grinding and the grounds stick to the side of the plastic container that collects the grounds. So it makes pouring the grounds from the container a little messy as the grounds fly all over the place during the transfer. I just end up doing it in the sink instead of the counter top to help make cleanup easier.

    Noise Level

I bought this Jun '26. I have no problem with how it grinds beans, but the noise level is too high. This summer with open windows, my neighbors could hear it and thought I was drilling something. I would not recommend this.
    Gfam
    From Cuisinart team
We're sorry to hear that while the Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill met your grinding expectations, the noise level was louder than anticipated. To help minimize noise, we recommend placing the grinder on a stable surface with a non-slip mat underneath and ensuring all components are properly seated before use, as vibration can sometimes increase operating sound. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback; your comments are important to us and will be shared with our team as we continue to improve our products.

    From Cuisinart team
We're sorry to hear that both Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mills did not perform as expected. If the grind size is not changing correctly, we recommend ensuring the bean hopper is fully locked into position, selecting the grind setting before starting the unit, and cleaning the burrs regularly, as coffee oils and fine particles can affect grind consistency. If the issue persists, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190 and provide Ticket Number: 8901157260 so we can assist with additional troubleshooting. Bean hopper needs care

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The metal on the bottom of the bean hopper is not rust-resistant, even though the included quick reference guide says "All removable parts are dishwasher safe..." Straight out of the box I rinsed the bean hopper and let it air dry, but now the metal seems to have oxidized.
    JonL
    From Cuisinart team
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Cuisinart Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill. We're sorry to hear you noticed oxidation on the metal portion of the bean hopper after cleaning. To help prevent discoloration, we recommend thoroughly drying all components immediately after washing rather than allowing them to air dry, as prolonged moisture exposure can affect some metal surfaces. If you have concerns about the condition of your grinder or the care instructions, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190.

    Disappointing Grind

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this burr grinder (replacing a blade grinder) to get a consistent, coarse grind for cold brew coffee. Got neither. Even on the coarsest setting available, I get a fair amount of "sticky dust" that clings to and accumulates on the side of the receiving container, and the overall grind size is finer than the off-the-shelf, pre-ground, bagged product I get for hot drip coffee at the grocery store. Add in the cleaning/washing required of the equipment, as opposed to the bagged coffee, and it's an overall loss for me. I'll try it a couple more times, and if the grind-size issue continues (which I suspect it will), it goes in the next garage sale.
    From Cuisinart team
We’re sorry the Cuisinart® Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill has not provided the coarse, consistent grind you expected for cold brew. To help improve results, make sure the grind selector is fully set to the coarsest setting, clean the burr and grind chamber to remove accumulated coffee particles, and try grinding in smaller batches; some fine particles can occur, but if the grind remains excessively fine or inconsistent, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190 and reference Ticket #8901143801. We understand the added cleanup makes the experience even more disappointing when the grind isn’t meeting your needs. Thank you for giving the grinder a try and for sharing such detailed feedback, as it helps us better understand how our products perform for different brewing methods.

    Bean
    From Product Expert team
We’re sorry the Cuisinart Automatic Burr Mill did not provide the fine grind you were looking for when preparing espresso. While the grinder offers 18 grind settings, results can vary depending on the beans and brewing method, so we recommend trying the finest setting with clean, dry burrs; if the grind is still too coarse, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190. It Smokes

I bought this coffee grinder and I was pleased at the time. Since the purchase, the coffee grinder has begun to smoke. Isn't it ironic that it began to malfunction a few days after the warranty expired. A smoking coffee grinder seems like an item that Neds to be recalled!

We’re very sorry to hear your Cuisinart Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill began smoking, and we understand how concerning and frustrating this is, particularly so soon after the warranty period ended. Please stop using and unplug the grinder immediately, and do not attempt to troubleshoot or operate a unit that is producing smoke. For safety concerns and to discuss what assistance may be available, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190 and reference Ticket #8901133588. Not at all happy with this product, look elsewhere

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this product on line and now wish we had not. This coffee bean grinder worked ok initially but soon produced much more noise than it did ground coffee. We suspect that blades that grind the beans dull in short order. While Cuisinart has in the past had a reputation for higher quality products someone missed the mark with this product. We do not recommend purchasing this product and now have different feelings about the brand in general.
    Stu Schimkat
    From Cuisinart team
We’re sorry to hear your Cuisinart Supreme Grind® Automatic Burr Mill initially performed well but has since become unusually noisy while producing fewer grounds, and we understand how this experience has affected your confidence in our brand. With the unit unplugged, we recommend checking the grind release area for compacted coffee grounds and cleaning it thoroughly with the cleaning brush, as buildup can interfere with performance. If the issue continues, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190 and reference Ticket #8901124860 so our team can help determine the best next steps. Thank you for your honest feedback and for giving Cuisinart the opportunity to address your concerns; insights like yours are important as we continually work to deliver the quality our consumers expect.

Replaced a unit that lasted 7 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Grinding your own beans is a quick and easy way to really up your coffee game. This unit is super easy to use and helps us make a delicious pot of coffee. Pour your beans in the hopper (it holds enough for several pots of coffee) set the grind you want (fine, medium, coarse, etc.) and the number of cups. Press the button and then wait while the unit precisely grinds and dispenses what you requested into the holding container. As it grinds it makes the whole kitchen smell like well, freshly ground coffee! Our previous Cuisinart Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill lasted over seven years and was used every day. We're looking forward to that same level of service with this unit.

We're sorry to hear the Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill did not meet your expectations, especially given the trust you've placed in Cuisinart products over the years. To help minimize overheating and automatic shutoff, we recommend allowing the grinder to cool between extended grinding cycles and ensuring the grind chamber and burrs are kept clean and free of excess coffee buildup; placing the grounds container fully into position may also help reduce mess during operation. If the grinder continues to shut down during normal use, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190 and reference Ticket #8901114245 so we can learn more about your experience. Thank you for your loyalty to Cuisinart and for taking the time to share your feedback; your comments are valuable and will be shared with our team as we continue to improve our products.

    From Product Expert team
We're sorry to hear your Cuisinart® Automatic Burr Mill did not power on right out of the box. To help troubleshoot, we recommend ensuring all components, including the bean hopper and grounds container, are properly seated, as the grinder's safety interlock system will prevent operation if they are not correctly installed. If the unit still does not power on after trying multiple outlets and confirming proper assembly, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190. Thank you for sharing your experience; we appreciate your feedback and will share your comments regarding product reliability with the appropriate team for review.
