Q: Is this product "Cruelty Free "?
A: Hi Barb. This is a great question. Thanks for asking it. Downy is not certified as 'Cruelty Free." However, we do want to emphasize that we do not test our products on animals anywhere in the world unless required by law and we are working hard to make all animal testing obsolete. The vast majority of our products are not tested on animals. Over time we expect more of our products will be officially accredited as “Cruelty Free”. If you have further questions, give us a call at (800) 688-7638.

Q: Hello Can I use this product for 4 months babies clothes?
A: Lia, that's a great question. Downy fabric conditioners have been thoroughly evaluated, and clothing washed or dried with any version of Downy is safe for children’s skin. If your baby has sensitive skin, the gentlest option is to use Downy Free & Gentle, which is dermatologist tested and free of dyes & perfumes. Please note, Downy should not be used on children’s sleepwear or garments labeled as flame resistant, as it may reduce flame resistance. If you have any other questions, we are happy to help. Just give us a call at (800) 688-7638.

Q: First time I have used the Free & Gentle, but it comes out thick and will not dissolve. Leaves residue on the clothes. Is this normal?
A: This certainly isn't normal. We do want to share with you that when storing the product, it can become thick or lumpy when exposed to extreme temperatures (either hot or cold). Best suggestion for storing the product is to store it at room temperature – in a cool, dry place and use it within one year. Give us a call at (800) 688-7638 for further help!
