Q: Is this color easy to come off like if in the future i want to dye it light ? Or would i have to bleach it later on if i want to go back light?

submitted by Janet - 6 years ago
  • A: Hi Janet! Nutrisse Color Creme #20, Soft Black, is a permanent haircolor and will have to be removed before going to a lighter shade. So, it will not completely wash out, and will remain a soft black!. We hope this information is helpful!

  • A: Hi Janet, this hair dye is permanent, so it won't fade with time. We don't recommend bleaching color-treated hair. Your stylist may be able to offer some guidance as well. Hope this helps!

Q: I previously tried to dye my hair blonde with a different product (I have naturally light brown hair) but it didn't lighten my hair enough. It's been about 2 1/2 months since then. Is this ok to use?

submitted by Johanna B - 7 years ago
  • A: I use it every 4 weeks. So, yes, you are saved for sure

submitted byOksana - 7 years ago
  • A: Hi Johanna, you can safely color again if your hair is in good condition. However, if you have light brown hair, the lightest you could go with a traditional haircolor is a medium blonde. If you wanted to go lighter, you must use something with bleach!

Q: is chamomile 100 an ash color

submitted by Sally - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi there Sally! Garnier Nutrisse 100, Extra-Light Natural Blonde (Chamomile), is our lightest natural blonde shade. Its not an ash tone, but the natural version of an extra light blonde, Shade 100 is best for anyone with natural hair between light blonde and light brown. For the same color but with an ‘ash’ tone, use the shade 111 Extra-Light Ash Blonde (White Chocolate).

  • A: Hello! When dying over highlights, the highlights absorb color much easier than the rest of your hair, which makes it difficult to rid your hair of multiple color tones. For the best assistance, our Virtual Beauty Consultants can help make shade recommendations and answer other hair coloring questions. They can be reached by texting “BeautyChat” to 827438 from your phone. Hope this helps!

Q: I'm currently using 600 Deep Light Neutral Brown as I don't want any brassiness. I would like something in a similar shade but golden instead of neutral. What shade would you recommend?

submitted by Dawn - 2 years ago
  • A: Hi there Dawn. For a color similar to the Nutrisse Ultra Coverage 600 Deep Light Neutral Brown that has some gold, use the Nutrisse Ultra Coverage shade 630 – Deep Light Golden Brown. However, if your hair tends to look brassy when dyed, using a color with gold can enhance the tendency to turn brassy.

  • A: Hi Dawn! Based on the current shade you are using, Medium Golden Brown would be a good option if you would like to add a bit of golden color to your hair. Hope this helps!

Q: I have blonde hair right now will this be a good choice to dye my hair back to my natural color which is brown?

submitted by dog - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi there! Going darker over hair lightened to a blonde can be tricky. If the hair is dark blonde or darker you can easily go to a medium brown with no problem. On hair lighter than a dark blonde there is the very real risk of discoloring the hair to a gray, green, pink or purple. To get a custom blend you can mix at home to get a natural looking darker result on hair lightened to a yellow blonde, call our 800# to speak to one of our haircolor specialists. Our number is 800-442-7643 our hours are from 9 AM to 5:00 PM ET M – F

Q: I have dark brown hair do you have a dye without bleach than can lighten my hair

submitted by Jenny305 - 3 years ago
  • A: Hey there Jenny305! There are options for lightening dark brown hair but with limits. If you don’t have gray to cover and don’t need to lighten dyed hair, we have high lift color made specifically for lightening dark hair like yours (without bleaching). Use colors from the Nutrisse Ultra Color collection. To go to a light brown/ dark blonde, use the HL1 bright toffee. While there are more options for medium brown hair, for dark brown and darker, to go any lighter than a light brown/ dark blonde requires a bleach lightener.

submitted byGarnier Consumer Care - 3 years ago

  • A: Hi Jenny305. These shades do not contain bleach. You can typically lighten your hair by using a shade two shades lighter than your current hair color. We recommend following the instructions included in the box. If you’re looking for more assistance, our Virtual Beauty Consultants can help make shade recommendations and answer other hair coloring questions. Use the “Chat with a Virtual Beauty Consultant” button on any beauty product page to launch or text “BeautyChat” to 82738 from your phone. Hope this helps!

Q: I have very dark brown hair and i really want to purchase the Garnier Hair Color Nutrisse Nourishing Creme, 63 Light Golden Brown, I know the box comes with several products are any of them similar to bleach so I can lighten my hair?

submitted by danny - 3 years ago
  • A: Hi there Danny! Dark hair like yours is harder to lighten. We know that, so we made a collection of haircolors just for the special needs of natural dark hair. To get a light golden brown result on very dark brown hair, use the Nutrisse Ultra Color B3, "Golden Brown" or the Nutrisse Ultra Color HL1, "Bright Toffee". These colors have more lift than a conventional hair dye and special pigments that work best on dark hair.

Been using this product for a number of years to cover grey. It always worked as expected, until my most recent purchase. I am a man with short hair so the quantity of hair I have to color is very, very little. Despite that, my greys were not covered for the first time in years. I'll be searching for a new product.

NOT THE SAME... - I want my original #42 back!!!

OMG, I just reported this problem yesterday but now I'm shocked to see so many other people who have had the same BAD experience with this "new" #42. It came out of the bottle ORANGE (the white cream has never changed colors previously with the old formula while it was still in the bottle). My scalp turned orange. I freaked out and washed it out after a few minutes. Something is clearly wrong, and I doubt that it's isolated to just one lot number. This is so disappointing! I have been using #42 for about 8 years. I get positive comments from total strangers all the time. Some of my hair has become color resistant over time but I don't care if it doesn't color all of my grey. It has such a unique look that I'm sure people think I'm paying lots of money to get "highlights" in my hair. I will be looking to find as many of the OLD packaging that I can. The last photo I've added shows what it should look like on me... NOT ORANGE! They need to RECALL this product ASAP, IMHO! I'm surprised there's not a class action lawsuit yet. Somebody at Garnier is clearly color-blind. Please don't try to convince me that this is the same color as it used to be!

I’ve been using #70, Dark Natural Blonde for many years with beautiful results. The new formula has the same number and name but the color is NOT the same. It now has very reddish undertones. Also way too thick. Had to add 1/4 bottle of water to get it to squirt out. Very disappointing. Why mess with what use to be a good product. And not even warn us it was a different color!!?

Hello! We appreciate you sharing your experience regarding Nutrisse Ultra Creme 70 Dark Natural Blonde. We are sorry the new Ultra Creme formula did not meet your expectations. We are always looking for ways to improve our products and your honest review is truly valued. For similar results, you may also wish to try the Olia Haircolor shade 7.0. Olia Haircolor 7.0, "Dark Blonde," is a pure, dark blonde shade without other reflects—allowing your natural tones to show through while also providing 100% gray coverage. Your feedback will be shared with our product development team for consideration. Thank you for your interest in Garnier!

This was such a great color and received so many compliments and inquiries on what color I used. Recently, the color is off and came out an ugly red tone. It doesn’t mix well and the results look cheap. Sadly, this amazing color has been ruined by someone at Garnier who made a bad decision. I wish they had not changed it. I’ll be looking for a new color likely from a different brand.

In the recent past, this has ALWAYS covered my grey roots impeccably! However I had thought maybe the last box I purchased of Soft Black #20 was simply that maybe I didn’t let it set long enough in the dispenser before applying- it left my roots a horrible olive green. The next box I purchased of the same color, is remaining the same Olive green again in the dispenser after being mixed and I have wasted MORE money on a TERRIBLE formulation that your people clearly botched. I don’t know how you can bounce back from this as your regular users do NOT want to waste more personal time money on a failed product. And it looks as though it’s not just one of your colors, but many. It concerns me even more, of my safety not knowing what we’ve all actually just put on our scalps. Horrendous.

I’ve been using this color/formula, 40 Dark Brown for many years without fail. You have changed the formula and now I’m SO disappointed. You may have thickened the formula but also desaturated the chemical compound in the process. It no longer covers completely and what covers washes out within a couple of days. I used to recommend this product to everyone but now I’ll have to move on to another brand. Sigh.
1 reply from Consumer Care Center team - 4 days ago
Hi there EllelwVA!We are sorry to hear and that Nutrisse no longer covers and washes out quickly! We understand being concerned when a product you have used appears different than expected. Nutrisse was recently reformulated as a thicker, non-drip cream. Rolling the tint tube from the end makes it easier to squeeze into the developer bottle. For your next application we recommend shaking the mixture for 60 seconds. This will ensure that our newly reformulated non-drip cream is thoroughly blended. The new formula provides improved richer color, longer lasting high definition color. Feedback from our customers is important to us when making decisions about our products. We appreciate your feedback and will be sharing it with others in our company.

This is so frustrating! I have used this color for a very long time, years & now this new formula is not only a different color It’s too thick. It does not mix completely even after shaking it like crazy. It’s too hard to squeeze out of the bottle. By the time I’m done, my hands hurt & I can never get it all out of the bottle. It sticks to the sides it’s so thick! All of this makes the coverage not as good. PLEASE change this to the previous formula which was a whole lot better! Now I’m on the lookout to change brands!

I loved the old formula. Hate the new formula. I would love to choose zero stars if I could. Like everyone has said, turns green when applying it, it's no longer "Light Golden Brown". I swear I look like Carrot Top for a while until it fades. Funny not funny!!! I was a red head until my 20's, and then it turned brown, so my hair will take red more easily than others. It's not a richer color. It does not cover as well as it used to. PLEASE go back to the old formula!!! Until you do, I'll be searching for a different brand.

Rolling the tint tube from the end makes it easier to squeeze into the developer bottle. For your next application we recommend shaking the mixture for 60 seconds. This will ensure that our newly reformulated non-drip cream is thoroughly blended. Be assured, your comments will be shared with the marketing team!

Just used this product and instead of "soft black" it is dark mossy green that looks practically Joker-green in the sunlight. I'm frustrated at myself for not reading other reviews before using this but mostly frustrated at Garnier for keeping a known-to-be-defective product on shelves. It's too bad, Garnier was a respected brand for a long time (which is why I never thought I'd need to check reviews first) but never again!
