Q: Hi Been using 8 M Blond for years. Underlying color probably now mostly white. 8 is great at first, but fades quickly to yellowish. Would 7.5A help? Possible to go back to 8 right away if too dark?
A: Hi there! If the new growth is mostly white, any color with an ‘ash’ tone will likely look very dull. You have the right idea, do the next touch up with a slightly darker color, however, your best option going darker is to use the dark blonde 7 or dark golden blonde 7G. Once you go darker, you won’t be able to lighten the color using another dye. To be sure the results are not too dark, stick to the Touch Up application and timing. Do the roots for the full 30 minutes but the previously dyed hair should only get the dye mix for the last 10 minutes of your timing.

Q: I have been using 4AR, can I switch to 5AR without the risk of lighter roots? My hair is naturally very dark with about 20% gray mixed in.
A: Hi Ashwells84, we get that you want to start going slightly lighter… Unfortunately, dyed hair is much harder to lighten than natural hair. No hair dye is strong enough to lighten dyed hair. Can you switch, definitely! But your roots will be slightly lighter. Your best option is to color just the new growth for now and let the rest of the hair dyed with the 4AR fade on its own over time to better blend with the lighter color at the roots.

Q: I have used medium beige 7 bb, t-shirt blond Excellence for along time. It is perfect for me. It has been discontinued, except in Canada! What color has taken its place? Not a fan of ashy tones.
A: Hi there! Thank you for reaching out to us about the 7BB, yes this has been discontinued here in the US. We did not replace this shade, we suggest checking out the shade 7 Dark Blonde. This is a neutral tone no ash or warmth added to it. We hope you check it out!
