Q: Can I use this on a faucet that produces water with rust and other sediment/minerals?
A: Is this 10 cup a glass pitcher as well?
submitted byHandy - 7 months agoA: Hi, Yes, LifeStraw Home filters can help reduce rust in water. Rust is typically caused by iron particles, and the LifeStraw Home filter uses advanced filtration technology, including activated carbon and a membrane microfilter, to remove contaminants like rust, dirt, and sediments, along with bacteria, parasites, and microplastics. However, if the water contains a high concentration of iron, resulting in heavy rust, the filter might need more frequent replacements to maintain its effectiveness.. I have attached a "compare" chart that is posted on our website so you may see what it removes. https://lifestraw.com/pages/compare I hope this helps answer your question!

Q: Please explain. This product is 1 container and 1 inner filter - correct? The filter needs to be changed about every 2 months - correct? Does this combined products reduce microplastics? Thanks
A: Thank you for your question! The pitcher is one container that houses an internal housing. Within the housing is a 2 stage filtration, which includes a microfilter membrane and a carbon ion exchange filter. The carbon filter, which is responsible for reducing 30+ chemicals and heavy metals should be changed every 60 days. The membrane microfilter, which is responsible for reducing bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and debris should be replaced after about 260 gallons. For households using greater than 2 gallons a day, this is typically every 6 months but can last up to a year depending upon use, care and water turbidity. The LifeStraw membrane microfilter is specifically designed to remove microplastic particles from drinking water. Through rigorous testing, we've confirmed that our filters exceeded the reduction requirement of NSF 401 standard. The high rate of reduction efficacy shows that our LS Home product do not add microplastics to the filtered water, and confirms our product itself won't introduce microplastics into your water through regular usage. Thanks again for your question!

Q: Hi I was wondering if I could use the lid without the filter part?
A: Hi Samanth, Thanks for your question. The lid is engineered to work with the filter housing, which is how it securely attaches to the pitcher. Without the filter, the lid won’t fit snugly on the carafe and may come loose during pouring. For safety and optimal performance, we recommend using the lid as designed, with the filter in place.
