A: I'm not a brand expert, but what I do know is that none of the external parts of the base are made from metal. I just bought one because of the previous answer, but now I'm totally dissapointed.

New Appliance Smell: Some new blenders can emit a slight odor during their first few uses due to the heating of new components like the motor or the plastic parts. This is often temporary and should fade after a few uses. If the smell persists or gets stronger, please contact us. Motor Overheating: If the motor smells like it's burning or overheating, this could be a sign of overuse or excessive load. It's weird to include safety instructions but no operation manual. For that you have to scan...then Oster sends you through an arcane set of specifications without any clarity whatsoever to "find" the right instructions. Then it requires a model number and guess what...that's nowhere to be found on the product. I needed the instructions because no matter what I did, the blender would just sit there and do absolutely nothing. Worthless and a waste of my time buying this product.

I love this blender so much I had to come write a review. I am using it for smoothies, as I have one every morning. Before I threw my smoothies maker in the trash where it belongs (starts w an N) I had a dream of purchasing any blender that was easy to use, clean and preferably with glass. I was skeptical of this one because I thought I’d be spending more. NO NEED! Yes, there is a motor smell from the base, I do not care. Does the stuff some times go to the top? Kind of, as other reviews have said. But since I’m making a smoothie with 13 ingredients, I make sure that I put the hardest to blend stuff with my liquid and I’m blending in increments. When I am done with phase 1, I open the blender to add more and give a little swish to take any particles down and I have absolutely no problems. SO easy to clean. So easy to add more to the blend. So wonderful, amazing, will buy 100 more if this one does.

Love the sturdy glass container. Easy pour and light base. Buttons are clearly marked and easy to use. There is a strong smell coming from the base or motor when in use. I think it will wear off after a few more times of being in use.

Burning motor smell

I purchased 2 of this model. At first I thought it was just the new appliance smell burning off but it still smelled after a month of use. I returned it to try again with the same model. But it's happening again. I'm returning the 2nd one, looking at a different brand. I've had Oster blenders in the past with no problem but it's time for a change.

This blender is terrible! Bought it yesterday, tried to make smoothies twice and it simply will not blend! I will be returning this asap and splurging a little more for a ninja since I’ve always had luck with that brand.

First of all, I am elderly and prepare food for just myself so I did not want a ginormous and heavy blender that would be difficult to handle with my arthritic hands. However, the major feature was that it must have a glass jar. I had never made smoothies before buying this gem. One day, I decided to give it a try without any recipe. I followed the instructions which told me to add my liquids first, then the heavier foods next. It was so much fun pulling foods from my refrigerator as well as my pantry to include in my first smoothie. I pushed the ON button, and then the SMOOTHIE button and the machine did all the work for me. It has an automatic program to whirr and pulse at just the right moments to complete the job without any issues. I didn't have to fuss with it at all. The jar holds just enough for two large glasses of smoothie. I was so impressed with how easily it functions that I've been making smoothies nearly every day since. The features of this little machine are wonderful. The surface of the base is easy to wipe down because there are no buttons sticking up to catch debris. The machine with jar are heavy enough so that when it is working, there is no movement on the counter nor any vibration. Easy to clean. You can add soapy water to the jar. Add the lid and then run the blender for a few moments to clean the inside. Or you can submerge the jar in a sink full of soapy water and with a long handled brush, clean the inside around the sharp blades. I am thoroughly convinced that this was an excellent purchase. It meets my needs perfectly and is a real workhorse.

decent blender, but doesn't last. If you purchase it, be sure to register it because this is the second one I've purchased and both of them failed within a year. the bolt that holds the blade stable keeps coming out and the blade won't spin and you cannot get the bolt to stay in. good glass and lightweight base, but doesn't hold up to normal, daily use.

I brought the blender so I can have a bigger blender to make smoothies. First time using it, the blender wouldn’t come on. I had to push various buttons and it finally came on. Then the blender started to smell like something was burning. As it was trying to blend the smoothie I noticed it would blend and then stop and then blend and then stop. It was a weird experience. I will be returning this blender.

Great price for a sturdy little blender! Easy to totally clean. All glass. I bought it to replace my Kitchen Aid mixer that was starting to put bits of plastic into my food. This is better and cheaper. Live the glass pitcher that can be dissembled to clean.

Through Target.com, I tried on three different occasions to get the 2-in-1 Blender, which comes with the blend-in-go cup. Target needs to change the title of this blender, as obviously, it's no longer offered. This blender only comes with the blender. No to-go cup. The manager at our local Target finally figured out the UPC #'s match, but the title on the web page is incorrect. Just beware. Obviously, Target isn't changing the title, even after Target.com advisor said they'd take care of that. I never used the blender. It was returned on 3 occasions. They gave me a $20 giftcard for my hassle.
