No More Wonderful Tropical Scent. ☹️
Hawaiian Tropic used to be my favorite sunscreen. More than anything else, the scent was the main differentiator; it literally smelled like summer at the beach in Hawaii. Recently, within the last couple of years, they have changed the scent so that it is much more "cosmetic", getting rid of the coconut scent in the tanning lotions and even in the deep tanning oil. Without the wonderful tropical smell, what's the point? There are a lot of other brands in this crowded space and I will probably look elsewhere unless the great scent comes back. Or at least offer a "Classic Scent" option! BRING BACK THE SCENT!

This is the worst thing I’ve ever used! I used this and barely stayed in the sun for a couple of hours, it gave me the worst sunburn I’ve ever had in my entire life! My whole body is covered in rashes.

Smells like chemicals now
Smells like chemicals now. I've been buying and using Hawaiian Teopic sun products for 30+ years. Lately, their entire sun line smells like chemicals. So, either their line up has changed formulas or previously they masked these smells with fragrance. Either way, I'm not using Hawaiian Tropic on my skin again. Today, when I applied a small amount to my arms, my arms hurt and the smell was horrible. I also smelled the bottle of oil I bought at Publix and the same toxic smell was present. Maybe it's the packaging, the plastics leaching into the product. I don't know, they do.

Don’t buy
So my husband and I live in Laguna beach and are perfectly tanned. We went to Kuaii for our anniversary. Stayed perfectly tanned. Last day we tried this product. It doesn’t breathe so caused sweat beads that caused peeling on both of us. We are so bummed. 15,000 trip and tropicanas product destroyed our sun kissed look. Never buying again

I like this product for tanning.
I got to use to use Island Tanning Lotion SPF 4 a few times while Tanning during Florida's hot Summer days. For a guy I like the scent of the product and how it offered both UV protection and allowed me to burn enough to get a tan.

I love this tanning product so much! It enhances your tan so you tan 10 times faster than normally. It doesnt make you orange at all. I am white and this does not make me too dark at all, just a lovely tan shade. The only down side to it is it runs out a little quickly. It is less than $10 though so I can just rebuy it. I am probably damaging my skin by only using SPF 4 but thats ok cause its all for the tan.

Works perfect once you’ve started a base tan so that you don’t burn. Keep in mind this is a 4 in SPF protection but once you have a base going it works amazing. My tan is rich and deep and moisturized. I’ve been using this for years and this is my go to.

I use this spf4 lotion after I’ve been tanning throughout the season. With my medium skin tone this is a product to use only with a well established tan to prevent burning. I had a killer tan from this product. Awesome tropical scent too.

Worth every penny
When I tell you I had PALE skin. Once I used this tanning lotion I got so tan so fast. I got burnt the first couple of times in the sun this summer, but after that I just get more tan and tan ( which never used to happen). Will always repurchase. The bottle also lasts me a decent amount of time considering I go to the beach multiple times a week and have a pool.
