Let's say I wanted bedtime to be 9:30 so I took it around 9:15. I'm assuming that would be the same for children. Hope this helps your question.

helps with children with anxiety and sleep struggles
My son is struggling with anxiety and restless at bedtime. Our therapist recommended using melatonin to help him have a peaceful sleep and he totally does. We call it our nighttime vitamin since he already takes a morning gummy vitamin and he truly has the most peaceful transition to bedtime with beautiful sleep. He's had less nightmares and wakes up happy and refreshed. Before he would have nightmares and wake up truly angry and upset from them. They have worked lovely for him and once in a while his sisters' have asked for one even though they don't have trouble with sleep. My oldest who is the best sleeper conks out super fast so she really only had one once after a long day of dance when she couldn't rest. My middle I swear could push through anything so I didn't see any difference when she took it one time.

Only made things worse
Did not work my 6 year old. I wasn’t sure what to expect as my first time using this product but will not be trying again. Yes, she fell asleep easily but woke up 3 hours later (midnight) bright eyed and bushy tailed and couldn’t go back to sleep until it was almost time to wake up for school.
