Original only takes small, bullet shaped original pods (1-2 shots of espresso sized) and the Vertuo only takes the larger dome shaped Vertuo pods. (1 oz, 2oz espressos, 5 ounce Lungo, 7.7 ounce mugs, *some Vertuo machines also make 12 ounce) This specific machine, the Vertuo Plus (the best one-touch button Vertuo machine they make IMO) specifically takes Vertuo pods and will make 1-2 ounce shots up to a 7.7 ounce mug of coffee. The pods have a bar code that tells the machine how to brew the type of pod and in what size to brew it. You can use the app or the button to brew a pod longer or short to make a bigger cup or stronger smaller cup.

A: This state-of-the-art machine is designed to brew each blend to the specific programmed temperature that is best suited to that blend, as defined by Nespresso Coffee Experts. Quality is very important to us, so the coffee brews to its ideal temperature without burning. Please bear in mind that added cold milk can decrease the temperature of the drink. Our Aeroccinos warm the milk however are designed to not exceed a certain heat level to avoid scorching.
