The scent is a bit strong but besides that it is perfect. The brush glides through with this and I have very thick and curly hair. It cuts down on the time detangling and it feels nourishing.

Love this product. I use this quite often! The texture is nice and smooth. It’s so effective and smells great. It’s such a great value and sleek packaging.

I love raw shea butter smell. I think the product is very effective in making sure my hair is okay. Packaging is good also and worth the costs. I will buy.

The new product is trash. It was better when it was the Extra-Moisture the clear version. This mess is white and leave residue, doesn’t moisturize it actually drys my hair. I’m so disappointed.

Such a great texture!! Works smoothly by putting on fingertips and rubbing through hair. Smells amazing and the scent is long lasting. Great to pair with their shampoo and conditioner!

Please bring back version 1.0 that had marshmallow root in it. That product carried my natural hair by itself. It was a perfect product that kept moisture in my hair for 4-5 days.

I love this product i use it every single day i love the texture and how it doesn’t weigh down my hair. The price is also very good for how much you get of this product. It smells amazing and has cute sleek packaging. I highly recommend.

Please, bring back the first version. It was much more moisturing and detangling.

I'm glad that I have finally purchased SM's detangler with sea kelp and argan oil, but I hate that I am JUST giving it a try. Every year, when the weather becomes colder and dryer and I am subjected to dry indoor heat, my naturally curly and wavy hair becomes dry and unmanageable. I have tried watery to milky sprays and even thick, buttery creams, hoping they would all solve my dryness issue. THIS detangler is the perfect consistency for my hair (a MEDIUM lotion-like creaminess). I shampoo once weekly, and while still in the shower, generously oil my natural hair and ends with plain jojoba oil, apply a quarter-size amount of detangler to each of my hair's four sections, comb through with my Unbrush, and let my hair air dry in two large plaits before styling. This detangler contains the right amount of glycerin and oils to keep my hair moisturized, conditioned, and feeling supple between my weekly shampoos. And the smell is wonderful. It has an amber-like aroma that isn't cloying, is light, and leaves the hair smelling fresh and clean. If you are a woman who also DISLIKES the beachy smells of coconut, cocoa butter, mango, peach, and heavy floral or candy like fragrances that are commonly marketed to black women's hair products, then the eastern-like aroma of amber in this detangler may be especially pleasing to you as well.

The original formula was amazing and truly moisturized. This new stuff dulls my hair and is of NO comparison to the original. I'll repurchase if and when the old stuff returns. The look, consistency, and color is even different!

This formula is really bad. I am very disappointed with Shea moisture. This is the second time they have changed the formula for their detanglers. First it was the low porosity detangler which was a staple of mine. Then I switched to this one and they changed the formula for this. Now I must find a replacement for this.

I used to use the original version of this product which was amazing. My hair looked moisturised for days and people always use to comment on that. The detangling aspect was also very impressive. This new formula seems to be nowhere near the same level of hydration / moisturisation. In fact my hair looks extremely dry and I havent changed anything else in my hair care routine / diet/ lifestyle

Please bring back the original Extra Moisture Detangler. Your new formulation is ineffective.

The previous formula was the only product that worked for my tight, coily hair. My curls have been dry and brittle ever since they made the change. I was a Shea Moisture super fan for 10 years, now I’m forced to try other brands to save my hair. PLEASE bring the original back 😭.

This has absolutely no slip to it whatsoever, in fact, it actually made my hat MORE difficult to detangle than had I put nothing in my hair. And I’m talking about the old formula here. Perhaps the new version is better. Of course, all the more recent reviewers seem to HATE the new formula, but this happens ANY time a product gets reformulated so I take them with a grain of salt. Whoever a product gets reformed, everyone gets super angry and say that it’s awful but tbh I think that’s just mental most of the time, people convince themselves that they hate it just because it’s new. It does smell wonderful though, as the entire raw shea line does.

The first Shea Moisture product I purchased was original Moisturizing Detangler and I was sold. It was the best hair product I've ever tried for moisturizing and detangling my coarse, kinky, dry hair. The new formula is not the same. I have been using it but only until I find a replacement. I've tried other Shea Moisture lines and nothing works for me like the original formula. Based on the reviews, you're losing alot of loyal customers who are disappointed with this formula change. Take a page from Coke - they changed the original formula but were smart enough to bring it back...

Please bring back the old formula! I have tried so many leave ins and nothing works as good as the OLD FORMULA did.
