A: This vacuum and the anti hair tangling brushroll has worked amazingly for our home! I was a skeptic as I have long curly hair and we also have a Great Pyrenees, but I haven’t had to clean the brush roll once yet and have been using it 1-2x times a week for over two months. Every other vacuum I’ve used I’ve had to clean the clogged brush roll every other use.

A: To clean tangled hair from the rollers, detach the nozzle by pressing the Powered Lift-Away button on top of the dust cup handle. Remove the wand from the nozzle and place the nozzle bottom-up on a flat surface. Carefully cut away any hair or debris from the brushroll using scissors. Once clean, reattach the wand to the nozzle and slide the pod back onto the wand until it clicks into place.

I’ve used Sharks for years and this is the best one yet. I have a Newfound who’s has is out of control but not only is the suction on this wonderful but I never have hair on the roller. Before I would have to clean the roller after each room. Love this vacuum

The Good: Powerful suction, does a good job of picking up dog hair (I have two german shepherds). The small power head works better than any I have used - I should say it actually works, unlike most others. I like the sensors and use them a lot. The suction from the sides of the cleaning head is decent and nice improvement over older / other models. The Bad: Like others have mentioned, the placement of the buttons on the handle is really stupid. Did anyone actually test this before moving on to manufacturing? You will probably accidently change speeds 10 times in the course of vacuuming your house. The lift away function is also terribly thought out. You basically have to take it apart to lift the canister from the power head. The wand has to be detached separately; the cord has to be unwound if you're not using the wand. The release buttons are counter intuitive - the button for lift away is on the canister, while the button to release the canister is on the body of the vacuum. This may sound trivial, but when you want to quickly clean the car, which I do often, all this extra work is annoying. The power cord coating is made from cheap plastic with no pliability. They warn you not to run it over, but it's going to happen inevitably. The coating on the cord tore the first time I hit it with the power head. So now it's wrapped in electrical tape. Finally, the caddy for the crevice tool and brush is another thing that must not have been tested. Also pretty useless, the tools fall off constantly. My take - the core of it is a great machine, but it has some really dumb / not well thought out or designed features that make this machine more annoying to use than it should be. I'd wait for the next generation. Hopefully Shark will take the feedback and correct some of these issues.

First off, I've been a loyal shark vacuum owner for a couple decades now. Always loved them. So when our Stratis started to show its age and we gave it to our kid when they got their own apartment, I figured I'd upgrade to this new Power Detect feature... Boy I wish I hadn't. This is hands down the worst vacuum I've ever owned. The power detect is a complete gimmick and is so slow to change speeds, I have to stop and let it think about what it wants to do before I can continue onto a new surface. It's an absolutely worthless feature. Don't even get me started on the manual touch floor type selector. It's so easy to accidentally brush and change the speed. I miss the manual slider of the Stratos. Now for some nitpicky things. The material they make the cords from is different than our previous Stratos, and never straightens out. It's so annoying. The dust cup is a lot smaller. The extend cord is so tight you can't really extend it to do anything useful. That picture of someone vacuuming the top of a picture frame would only be possible if they were holding the rest of the vacuum up in the air. Like I said, super disappointed in this vacuum, and I wish I had just bought another Stratos instead. Not sure I'll do another Shark after this experience.

I just bought my Shark Duo Power Detect vacuum this morning. I came home and immediately went to work cleaning the area rug in my sunroom which had been vacuumed by my previous machine two days prior. I expected to see some residual dirt, especially since I have small dogs. What I did not expect were the results demonstrated in the photos below! I photographed the results after vacuuming once, then twice, then 3 times over the same rug! Needless to say, I am quite impressed. The machine is heavier than other vacs I have used, but for these results I will happily accept the trade-off! When I say this vacuum sucks, I mean it in the best way possible!

I love this vacuum. I’ve used this vacuum to deep clean my entire apartment and my car (having recently discovered the detailing kit Shark offers I know what my next purchase will be). This vacuum has a lot of power and at times it reminds me of a self-propelled walk behind lawnmower. The odor neutralizer can be overwhelming, but can be turned down to a more tolerable level. I especially love the self-cleaning brush rolls, I have long hair and couldn’t even get through one room before I’d have to stop, let it cool down, and then take it apart to clean the brush roll (to be fair, it’s a handed down Hoover from the early 2000’s). My apartment is mostly hardwood floors with linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. There’s only one room with wall-to-wall carpet. I do have area rugs and while the vacuum is fine on the large rug, it’s not great for small or medium rugs as the suction will pull the rug into the vacuum.

The BAD: This is really heavy. It takes a while to get used to the way it turns, it can be frustrating. Worst of all, you CANNOT vacuum throw rugs with this! Even if they are large throw rugs. It's difficult to maneuver in tight spots like hallways. I don't like all the parts on this vac that need to be maintained; it isn't a car! I think I need to keep my old vacuum, if only for the throw rugs. The GOOD: Love the long cord. Love the power. Love how easy it is to empty. I like the way it pulls itself across the carpet and how easy it is to pull the hand wand for off the floor cleanups. I like how easy it is to connect (and disconnect) the wand.

Total garbage now. The cartridges stink to high heaven. Need unscented ones. Turning down, the dial does not help. The light on the nozzle is trash and barely lights anything up. The hair and lint constantly clogs op the cone in the canister at the top before the canister is even 1/4 full. I want the old models back. Sick of cheap overpriced garbage. Disgusting and wasteful to produce trash like this.

The absolute worst product I’ve ever purchased. If you value your physical and mental health don’t buy. It’s a beast in the worst way. The only positives are the odor neutralizer and light. The floor detect does not work. The buttons to change floor type are located so you accidentally bump them all the time. Terrible maneuverability and heavy. The accessory hose has zero flexibility so the vacuum tips on you when trying to use the wand. The upholstery device is powered by suction so immediately stops working when you touch a surface. I could go on and on. The worst vacuum I’ve owned. I’m so angry every time I use it.

This is one of the best vacuums that I have ever had. Now buying additional one for my daughter. The power that the vacuum has is unbelievable. All the attachments are great & are very useful. Very lite weight and so easy to use. I really like the feature that it is able to get the dirt along the edges & corners. An amazing design.

Hate this vacuum. These reviews have got to be filtered because this vacuum is awful. Every time it gets stuck on a rug it turns red and you have to re power. The extension is terrible and barely stretches, it keeps dropping the whole vacuum. So last time it fell I just kicked it. Hate it so much, complete waste of money. Pay the extra and get the Dyson.

When I got divorced my wife took them so I bought this model . It picks up great but the detect part that changes the suction I don't see it working as I mentioned we had 2 shark product already. My carpets were only a few years old and was top quality carpets and when my wife moved out I had the whole house shampoo . The new vacuum always has the blue light on saying it still dirty and I vacuumed the same spot for seral minutes and it never changed to the white light. I don't think my carpets were that dirty seeing they were shampoo and we were using the pet vacuum and the robot. I have had this vacuum for several months and vacuum every week as it only me in the house . And I got to say that section thing don't work or it a gimmick. Other than that issue I feel the vacuum works good . I recently got a rescue dog and it really pick up her hair. Over all I think it a good vacuum with good suction.

My biggest issue: The hose is far too short and will not allow more than a few feet of reach. Without purchasing a generic hose extension, you will have to heave the whole unit up on to your couch and stretch to clean behind it for instance. Second pain point is the cord. I was on the fence about cordless and figured this unit would be a good compromise... not exactly. The odor protect cartridge loses smell in day. It may be trapping odor unbeknownst to me but there is no fresh scent anymore. The front lights are a big plus! However, I find myself constantly changing the smart touch floor setting located on the handle by accident. The suction is also average - good not gret. The dust canister is pretty awesome... A tissue was sucked up but didn't make it past the first chamber. Also, it is quieter than most vacuums i have heard. The added attachments are pretty great in concept but most are SERIOUSLY awkward to use even the ones with adjustable angles. Again, the hose is so restrictive you need to buy an extension to try and use anything effectively in that regard. Lastly, it is not made in the USA which was one of the biggest selling points to me. Every box is stamped MADE IN CHINA. I know now that my next vacuum purchase will not be a shark.

Bought this in November, May 30th, and it stopped working. One sign we had an issue, I was vacuuming and it shut off. Figuring i had unplugged it, i went back to outlet no problem. Touched the cord near the Vac but the outlet and it came back on. The next time i went to use it, plugged it in and it won't turn on. It's not even a year old! Horrible i can't get help with this 😔

I want to love this vacuum so much because the suction power is incredible. If I had carpet in my house this would be my go to. But I have no carpet and only rugs. Im only able to vacuum my large area rug with it, any small rugs get sucked up whether it's on detect or i manually change it, the suction power is still too strong. Again not a terrible problem to have, but I have to keep a smaller back up vacuum to vacuum those rugs. It does seem to be extremely heavy, but I have had a shark stick vacuum that lasted me 10 years so im used to lighter weight. The power detect takes some getting used to, it's slightly annoying how often it changes. The hose is not very long so that's a bit of an issue and makes it awkward to use. And then lastly the attachments constantly fall from their holding place on the vacuum. So overall if you have a lot of carpet i would definitely not hesitate to get this one!

I run my own cleaning business and while this vacuum has amazing suction like all shark vacuum (they’re the only vacuums I ever use or buy for work and home) it really is more of a hassle. First, whoever thought it would be smart to put the power button on the handle was WRONG! I have turned it off at least 20 times today at work or hit the different setting buttons accidentally because they’re right on the handle. Second, the hose is soooo short and has no reach without tipping the whole vacuum over when trying to use attachments. Third, I was using the powered lift away option and the vacuum just shut down and wouldn’t turn back on for 5 min. I even tried different plugs thinking the power to the outlet was the issue because the vacuum is brand new and it’s my first day using it I couldn’t believe it just died out on me. Lastly, it’s a lot heavier than the other lift aways and I honestly prefer the less expensive ones that are a bit lighter, have longer hoses, and the power button in a smart place! It’s too bad, I really wanted to love this vacuum since my son purchased it for me for Mother’s Day and spent a lot of money but I’m honestly a bit disappointed in the overall function of this vacuum. So much so that I’m writing this in the middle of my work day while taking a quick break!

I've had this vacuum for a little over a month, and I could not be more pleased! I got a great deal that included many attachments in addition to a free steam mop. The vacuum has many features that I love, but I especially appreciate the light that allows me to actually see how clean my hardwood floors are getting as I vacuum. The detachable wand for attachments even has a light! The cleaning power on hard surfaces as well as carpet is amazing. I've kicked my old Dyson to the curb with no regrets!
