Meets all expectations, feels sturdy and bins slide in smoothly. Only niggle is the locking mechanism to hold the lid up feels a bit fragile, against the lid, incase the lid bends? but that could just be me. Would have been even better if it was sensor like other models, but in this design.

Looks good and performs well. Brilliantly designed. I am very happy.

So far so good. I trust simplehuman products a lot—this does everything I expect it to. I love how big the recycling side is. It was easy to unbox and start using.

The concept is good, however item was poorly packaged and came dented. Better to pick up in store and not have it shipped.

I’m returning it. It’s too small for us and I have to empty it every day. It also holds smells really badly despite spraying it inside and out. I had to put it outside. That’s not been a problem for me in 50 years of life.

The recycle bin perfect size but the trash bin is too small for my liking.

There are plastic hinges that support the heavy lid and they will break within months. We have two of these and both have the exact same problem. I have had 3 of the same lids break on me and Simple Human keeps sending the same lid with plastic hinges and they keep breaking. If you like failing by doing the same thing over expecting different results this is the trashcan for you. If you are not a fool then you should shop for a better product not to have the same issues with this company. With this product you will pay more but expect less. DO NOT buy this trashcan.

If you’re paying this much, it’s nice to read a review from a user. This is pretty darn close what I was looking for. Did not want a motion sensor I have to have batteries around for or wall charge. Pedal seems good quality; however, if it got lots of rough use (like slamming or repeatedly tapping - can you tell I have older kids?!), I don’t know how well it would wear, as with anything not taken care of. While it would be nice to have two same size bins (only reason for 4 stars vs 5), I don’t mind the two different sizes. Small household with small meals, less trash and more recyclables typically. You can choose which side to use as garbage or recycling since it doesn’t have a permanent image on the front or inside the container indicating specifically. When you use a the garbage bag liner, both bins appear the same color. Without the garbage bag liners, the bins are as pictured. I decided to buy the extra bags for each side. Each side does come with a trial set of 10 (so 20 bags total), plus tag attached to each trial package of bags reads that you can register your product for a special offer (I haven’t done that yet, so unsure what that means). A nice idea would be multiple bin versions to choose from (like clothing size options): 1 bin, 2 equal size bins, or this version. Even better would be a slightly larger and wider version of the waste container to hold a 3rd bin for organics; perhaps that could be the skinny bin. If you’re wondering also how you can peel items in or toss your egg shell(s) while cooking/baking, there is a red plastic switch mechanism on the far right, near the hinge, that slides to or away from the hinge to hold it open. The slow, quiet lid close is nice, too. Not too fast or slow. I took the sticker from the top and put it inside to indicate which side I am using as recycling. You can always put your own labels inside to choose which side suits your need at the time best. Knocked 1 star off Value because while it seems to be great quality, the price point seems a bit high for this item. An original price of 10-15% lower price point would seem more appropriate, especially considering the cost of the bags is higher than regular bags. If you’re considering buying regular bags for the narrower/smaller side, it will likely be frustrating losing more space with the extra bag material inside. It depends on what’s more worthwhile for you: hassle, cost, etc.

This can is pricey, but so worth it!. I use the larger side for trash & smaller bin for recycles. Everything neat, organized , and contained!

It’s expensive but it’s very high quality.supplied with tailor made bags ( I use the blue bin for recycling without bag and small bin for food waste etc with bag ) .its narrow and tall with high quality sturdy inner bins with metal lid that can be locked in open position via small catch. beautifully finished. very well packaged and quick delivery. I’ve never paid this much for a bin but it is an excellent design and top quality . Very impressed (by a waste bin !!! ) .

This is everything I expected and more! Love the 2 compartments and the bags that fit seamlessly.Looks very smart in my kitchen. Not cheap but worth the money

I was so excited for this trash can when ordering it, but my hatred for the tiny space for the actual trash has trumped it all. I love the larger space for the recycling but come on! We all need a little more space for the trash. We've only had it for 3 days and I'm already so beyond frustrated with this thing! I've had to take out the little trash just about every day and we only have one little one, I can't imagine a family of 4 or 5. I can't even empty out my vacuum canister without dirt getting everywhere because the canister is bigger than the tiny trash receptacle!

The compartments are too small for sorting recycling, trash, and food waste. Not practical for my needs.

Love this trashcan! Well-built stainless steel design with solid foot lever. Lid closes slowly without slamming. Two sections for recycling and trash. Nice touches like lid slider. Custom bags recommended. Great overall.

Sad to be excited over a bin but it is great. No more piles of recycling on the side and struggling to balance it to the bin outside. The two in one bin is great!

I was reluctant to spend this much on a bin, but I am very happy with it. It is great quality, and is shallower than most on the market, which fitted the space better. I am using the smaller side for recycling as I think it's too small to be the main bin. Other stainless steel bins I've had have looked scruffy or rusted quickly, but I'm encouraged by the guarantee!
