Description
Book Synopsis
For the youngest readers, the bath book edition from the New York Times bestselling Rainbow Fish series. Sure to be a favorite tub toy, this soft but sturdy little book with its message about sharing is perfect for the very youngest child--at bath time, bed time, beach time, anytime! The rainbow fish with its iridescent scales is the most beautiful fish in the whole ocean. But since he is also vain and proud, he becomes more and more lonely over time. Then he realizes that you can't win friends through beauty. He overcomes his pride and begins to distribute his glitter scales to the other fish. Eye-catching foil stamping, glittering on every page, offers instant child appeal, but it is the universal message at the heart of this simple story about a beautiful fish who learns to make friends by sharing his most prized possessions that gives the book its lasting value.About the Author

bad moral
This is a book with an unfortunate message - give away everything that makes you you/beautiful in order to have friends. Why can't the friends admire and embrace the fish without literally having to hold/have/own a part of it? the illustrations are beautiful; the message is wrong.

Not a good message
Like many others I didn’t like the message. You don’t need to give people your things so they can be your friend. Sharing is different, this is not about sharing. I don’t suggest buying.

Communist message
This book had a terrible message and shouldn't be taught to children.

This is NOT a good kids book. Yuck.
Learning to share is an important life lesson, but this story is not the way to teach it - it’s confusing and makes it sound like your child needs to dumb themselves down to fit in. This is an awful message for kids. Please remove this book.

Rainbow fish
I’m wondering if this is an abridged version of the story or if in my memory there was more to it. Very short but cute board book.

Cute Book - shower gifts...
This is a cute story and a must for toddlers who don't want to share. I've also been asked to review an item purchased as a shower gift. When Target notes a purchase from a registry, they should wait until shower date and email the mother-to-be and request a review!

If you're looking for a quality board book, perhaps look elsewhere
It’s a little cheesy. I thought a board book would be more board. This one is rather flimsy and cheesy.

The book came quickly which is great but I noticed it has not been removed from the baby registry. I will need to call to get this done.

Terrible message for children
This story provides a terrible message to children. The rainbow fish is arrogant because he is so beautiful and the only way to make the other fish like him is to alter his appearance to be less attractive while making the other fish appear more attractive. I think a better story would have been that the rainbow fish not change a thing about his physical appearance and the starfish tells him to find what makes the other fish beautiful and unique in their own way. It missed the opportunity to teach children physical appearance should not define them.

As a board book the story was shortened considerably and ended up in the air.

Poorly cut down version
This is a cut down short version and honestly the storyline comes across poorly. With less context the moral of the story seems to be giveaway special parts to make friends.
