Up & Up universal replacement water filters deliver superior performance and value for great tasting water. Up & Up filters are guaranteed to fit and perform in Brita pitchers (except Stream). Each up & up filter requires NO pre-soaking, reduces the release of black carbon particles, is NSF/ANSI 42 certified for the removal of chlorine taste and odor, and filters up to 40 gallons of water.
It fit my brita filter. Black particles: I haven't had any issues. I fully submerge in water and let it soak for upwards of 15 mins. I make sure I shake it around periodically while it is soaking to release the air. I think you get black particles from most filters if you're lazy about the rinse/soak. Water not being released: This happened to the brita brand of filters. If you take it out of the pitcher and shake it around pretty aggressively, it usually solved the issue for me. Overall: It does what it is suppose to.
This filter fit my Brita pitcher perfectly and seemed to filter the water through without any issues. My issue however was with the taste of the filtered water. This filter gave me water that tasted super chlorine-y, also leaving an aftertaste. My Brita filter left me with drinkable water, without an aftertaste. I was hoping to save a couple dollars by making the switch to Up&Up since it generally has decent products. This water filter however is not one of them.
A few weeks after I followed all the rinsing steps and put it in, a film that had slowly been forming at the bottom finally cracked and released film and activated charcoal particles all over into my water, I couldn't believe how much had been deposited! The sponge picture is after I had cleaned up the base.
These have black specs that come out in the water. I was truly disappointed to see that after following the proper procedures to get it clean and running. Even though the black specs are harmless, my daughter is worried about drinking the water, which defeats the purpose of buying it in the first place.
These were great for a while; cheaper than the name brand and did the job but the last few filters I’ve had aren’t working. The current filter has been in my pitcher for about a week and just stopped working. The water doesn’t filter through AT ALL and therefore there is standing unfiltered water at the top of the pitcher. I am going back to buying the more expensive name brand ones because at least they do the job.
