Digital ovulation tests use either urine or saliva. Some kits use single-use urine test sticks (used with or without a digital reader), while other products use a reusable saliva test device.

Digital ovulation tests display results in several ways: a numeric or text digital display, a ‘smiley face’ peak-fertility icon, +/- symbols, or colored lines similar to pregnancy tests.

Most digital ovulation tests detect the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge. Some advanced digital tests also monitor estrogen (often reported as E3G) in addition to LH.

Some digital ovulation tests include a companion phone app that uses your phone’s camera to capture the test image and interpret it, with the result displayed in the app.

Urine-based digital ovulation tests generally support either holding the absorbent tip directly in the urine stream or dipping the tip into a urine sample collected in a clean, dry container.
