It is affordable but not worth it. The single button is annoying. In the beginning the button was very hard/stiff and difficult to turn on. Then about 2 months into using it every day, the button turned very sensitive and would turn on by itself. I thought a new battery, same price as the thermometer btw, would do the trick, but even then it will turn on randomly by itself and if you don’t apply lighter pressure to the button, the screen will start to malfunction and blink random numbers. Save yourself the money by actually buying something slightly more expensive. This is another cheap gadget going to the landfill unfortunately.

Don't waste your time or money
Do not waste a single dollar on this item. I bought one that I didn’t use for a bit, when I finally went to use it the battery was low. Bought a replacement battery and still said the same thing. Went to the store and spent another $8 to get a new one, immediately read low battery before I could even use. I only gave it one star because that’s a lowest I could choose.

Hi Amy, we’re sorry for the frustration. For accurate readings, please follow the manual’s test location instructions and wait 2 minutes between readings. The half-battery icon can appear during startup even when the battery is normal. If concerns persist, Target Guest Services can help.

Unreliable
This item is trash. As if TTC isn't hard and stressful enough, if you're left to use this thermometer, you won't be tracking anything, you'll be guessing. For starters, it takes a whole minute to give a reading and then I've taken to the habit of averaging 3 readings because they're all drastically different even though I take them back to back. I've been using for about 6 months (and had to replace the battery already) because I'm apparently a masochist that won't pony up to buy a higher quality thermometer. Don't be like me. Spare yourself the additional stress and buy something higher quality.

Doesn't work.
Got home from the store, opened it to test it out, there was a little plastic tab to remove that was partially under the purple plastic at the wide end. Attempted to pull the purple end cap piece off so I could remove the plastic bit, and essentially all the innards came out, motherboard, digital display and all. Not sure if that was intended or not. I put it back in, and it does turn on, but will only read a “Hi” temp, whether it’s in my mouth or under cold running water. Don’t waste the $10. Unfortunately this was the only option at my store or I might have gone back and tried some other brand, but Amazon it is I guess.

I was really excited to try this because of the price point but it only took 2 readings before it just completely stopped working. I hope they fix it but I guess now the price point makes sense 🙄

Does NOT work :/
Doesn't work. Woke up early to try this out. Pulled the plastic tag that says "remove first" and it hasnt worked at all. You cam hear the battery rattle around inside (which probably means it is not secured inside the device, hence it not working. Now I have to drive back and return it. Should've looked at reviews before purchasing.

DO NOT BUY. DOESNT WORK.
Never gives a temp. Only says HI and it will give you that reading just being on and siting in the air. I would give it less stars if it would allow.

Doubles as an alarm clock.
This thermometer takes a long time to get a reading. It also beeps once when it turns on and and several times when it is finished reading. It’s so loud it could wake your partner up. And it takes so long to get a reading you could fall back asleep waiting. Ha!

INACCURATE JUNK. Do not use for kids.
Piece of junk. It loads the temperature in increments of 0.1 which takes MINUTES to get a reading and then once it finally reads the temp, it’s completely inaccurate. Should not be allowed on the market. Bought for infant. Dangerous.

Battery rattling and power issues fixable
I encountered the same issue as many other reviewers. The new thermometer said the battery was low, it powered on and off, there was rattling, etc. I opened the battery compartment to find there was a small gap (from the little plastic pull tab you remove before use) between the battery and the metal that holds it. Very light pressure on the metal toward the battery eliminated the gap. This solved the rattling and low battery issue and now the thermometer works great. I also like that this thermometer has a screw that protects the battery compartment, as I worry about button cell batteries around small kids.

Avoid It
Same issue as others - bad right out of the box. Flashes green then stays red and says “HI” with a series of beeps. Of course the info pamphlet inside gives zero indication as to what this means. What a waste.

Slow-Poor Result Reading
Takes 5 minutes to complete a reading and the screen doesn’t stay lit up at all to even know if it is reading a temperature. Honestly have not been happy with this devise from the start.
