I’ve been really impressed with the Whynter ARC-1230WN portable AC unit. It runs surprisingly quiet, which makes a huge difference when I’m working or sleeping. One of my favorite features is the app control—it’s so convenient being able to adjust the temperature remotely without getting up. Before purchasing my first portable AC I read reviews for days, and it was very confusing and misleading to say the least! There are so many similar models and so many similar reviews and claims. I purchased an LG first and was let down, had to return it, My next try was a Frigidaire, and had the same poor results. I came across the Forbes top portable AC rankings and they ranked the Whynter ARC-1230WN #1, and WOW, were they right!! Not only is this the best portable AC, it’s the best AC I’ve ever had! It will FREEZE you out if you desire! Or see the temperature on auto and it runs to perfection! So silent and smooth when it’s on auto, at times you cannot even tell if it’s running! Look no further! If you’re in the market for a portable AC, this is leaps and bounds above the rest! Easy setup, have it running in minutes! Enjoy the comfort of the coldest portable AC on the market! You Whynter unit runs so quiet and literally trippled how fast my room cooled when I had a competition model. Whynter truly makes the very best Portable AC Units !! LOVE IT!

First item I will discuss is energy efficiency, I am using it to cool a 800 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment with West facing windows. I like it cooler than most < 70 degrees and I only run the unit after I return from work in the afternoon when the temp is 76 - 80 degrees inside. I leave the unit run at night and by morning it is usually low 60’s in main living area and mid 60’s in bedroom. So it cools better than advertised. After reading a lot of reviews and looking at different units I chose this brand based on consensus reviews and a better build quality than competitors. Energy efficiency, having never owned a portable ac before and based on competent reviews it should be energy efficient but considering I’m cooling more space it’s probably a wash. I’ve had no issues with this unit Overall I was so impressed with this brand I bought a smaller unit that I installed at my parent’s house in an upstairs bedroom. Cannot complain about either unit.

This unit is quiet, cools our space incredibly well and we don’t have to drain the water. Excellent product- very pleased with our purchase!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've bought this a bit over a year ago to battle the hot Texas heat for the office. It was able to keep office cold with 2 workstations and 2 dogs constantly pumping heat into the room. It worked pretty much year round until a rare E1OC Error I received in the spring. I was able to quickly get my issue to their support and they sent me a new unit free of charge just before it gotten hot again. The support was fast and helpful, the least helpful part was probably me being too busy to reply in a timely manner most of the time. I'd like to thank Rowena for the help. Having opened two units a year apart I can see they have done improvements. Extra window parts, extra foam to keep the window insulated compared to a year ago. Highly recommended if you can't fit it in a window unit or have some strange window layout.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there a several inconveniences in how it was designed. But even with sone design flaws its does a great job cooling and thats the most important part.

The room has 3 large west-facing windows that make the room very warm on sunny days, even with blackout shades in use. The Whynter dual hose AC swiftly cools the room and is very quiet. When powering on the unit, the air is instantly cold. We are so pleased to have an efficient way to cool and dehumidify the bedroom without having to worry about emptying any water. The evaporation feature is like magic. We will sleep well this summer thanks to this dual hose technology and Whynter.
