  • A: Folgers with the light green label is decaf. They also have a half-caf one.

submitted byGabby - 1 year ago
  • A: You need to select “classic decaf” to get info about the decaf. If you selected “black silk” it does not say decaf and it is not decaf.

Q: Arabica coffee beans?

  • A: Thanks for your question. Our Colombian Coffee is made of 100% Arabica coffee beans sourced from Colombia.

  • A: NO. According to Folger's, "Classic" is a combination of arabica and robusta. The "classic" beans come from various countries. The OP asked the question on a page for Folgers "Classic" NOT Colombian.

Q: For coffee drinkers with Gastritis, GERD, acid issues etc, has this decaf coffee been alright with your stomach?

submitted by emmy - 8 years ago
  • A: Coffee is coffee and it isn't going to make any difference with your GERD whether you drink regular or decaf it's going to have the same affect on your gut. I suggest just lower the amount you drink.

Q: What process is used to decaffeinate this coffee? Is it organic/water based? Or are chemicals used?

submitted by Sharon - 5 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question, Sharon. We use ethyl acetate direct process. In the ethyl acetate process, we begin by steaming the beans, which draws the caffeine to the surface; ethyl acetate is then added to the beans to extract the caffeine. After the caffeine is removed, we steam the beans again, and then we’re ready for roasting.

    Miss the original Classic Roast

My husband and I have noticed a difference in our longtime favorite, Folgers Classic Roast coffee. At first we noticed a burnt smell, and it isn't as smooth either. I decided to google whether or not they had changed their formula. It appears they have not, but have changed their roasting process. We miss the old flavor and for the first time in decades, are trying other brands. We hope they will bring the original back.

    Weak Butt Coffee

Recently we have tolerated the downsized container, the increase in cost, but the taste is weak, last aroma, and is of no value. I will be returning the 3 cans I purchased and switch to a new brand. No more Folgers.

Stop gaslighting us and DO BETTER, Folgers!

The "classic" aroma and taste generations before us enjoyed is now completely gone. It is bitter, causes stomach issues and illness, smells like burnt ashy plastic and has a very chemical taste. Made both my husband and myself sick to our stomachs for 3 days. Our water is filtered, our coffee pot and all internal parts are deep cleaned routinely, and we've tried several different batches of the Folgers Classic.. its not anything wrong on our end.. its the coffee. Which is disheartening, as I know it was a favorite of my husbands and many other folks for decades. The blanket statements the Folgers company seems to prefer to reply to these complaints with are unsatisfactory and a slap in the face to loyal customers. We KNOW something is different. Don't gaslight us. Just FIX THE ISSUE and restore the classic taste, aroma, and ingredients of FOLGERS. Because whatever the Smuckers plant is putting into the cannisters and trying to pass off as our once beloved FOLGERS ... ain't it. Its gross, bitter, and is literally making people sick to their stomachs.

What did change to make the coffee bitter.

For years the coffee has changed its taste. When you use to open it up you get this amazing aroma that made you anxious for a cup. Like the old commercial where the smell would wake you up. Not anymore not even when it’s brewing. I’ve been a loyal customer for 55 years and the later years I’ve been asking why. The taste isn’t the same and the aroma is long gone. All of us baby boomers were brought up on this brand from our parents. Never ever changed the brand. Folgers classic roast was the best, but not anymore. Now that the prices are high it’s time to move on. I’ve changed or quit a lot of products because of companies making the product with cheaper ingredients. This is a sad goodbye to a coffee I never dreamed I would change.

    Something seems off

I’ve been a longtime fan over 30yrs of this coffee, but unfortunately, something seems off with the latest batch. The last 4 cans I purchased something don’t seem right. The robust, rich flavor I once loved has noticeably faded. Now it comes across as weak and watered down, with a lingering bitterness that wasn’t there before. Occasionally, when I open the can, there’s a faint, off aroma that hints something in the roasting or packaging process has changed. It’s disappointing to see a favorite coffee lose its signature strength and depth. If you changed the process or added something to it or replaced the beans with a cheaper bean the consumers know. Especially when you are a lifelong Folgers drinker. Very disappointed and unfortunately going to have to switch brands.

    Actually Undrinkable Now

Yucky! I used to think Folgers was the best smelling and a pretty good tasting coffee, but I just bought a can and it smelled like chemicals right out of the can, and it tastes like super bitter chemicals. I feel like I'm drinking road tar-flavored water. Not sure what happened, but this seems consistent with all the other recent 1-star reviews. They must've had an oopsie at the plant and don't want to admit it, or quality control has just gone to pot.
