Q: can the 1/2 cup of oil be replaced with applesauce?

  • A: We do not recommend replacing the oil with applesauce in our Brownie Mix. Applesauce would likely result in the batter being too wet and would prevent the brownie from setting up well during baking. That said, you can use any oil of your choice, you'll just want to keep flavor in mind. Our team tends to favor coconut oil or grapeseed oil (for a more neutral flavor).

  • A: I subbed the 1/2 cup oil for 1/2 cup apple sauce, and reduced the water by half . It worked fine. Probably should use a metal pan for better heat distribution, as I used glass and center undercooked

These are strangely so salty and flavorless. They definitely need less salt and more sugar. They don’t hold their shape and are too gooey even though a toothpick came out clean. Not worth the money.

The people that say these are not good brownies are crazy! My husband and I love these so much. They are easy to make and turn out so moist. We use avocado oil and will add HU brand chocolate chips on top after coming out of the oven. If you love chocolate, and need a guilt free treat, these are it! We like the brownies more than the cupcakes.

Decadent dark chocolate brownie

I’ve been using this Simple mills brownie mix for years and it’s delicious; has a dark chocolate flavor and brownies come out very moist. I use coconut oil or butter and add walnuts when baking. Sometimes I put some chocolate chips on top after taking out of oven and they melt right on top to make it look prettier with a dark chocolate topping. Yummy!

SO yummy.

The package calls for oil or butter. If you are able to, make it with butter. I’ve made it both ways and by far the butter makes it taste amazing. Also, sprinkle some gluten free dark chocolate mini chocolate chips all over the top - my family of 4 (with two kids under 10!) inhales this entire thing in 24-48 hours. I also LOVE that there are no preservatives so you store in the fridge versus just sitting on the counter like the unhealthier boxed brownies.

This was the worst gluten free brownie ever and I’m so annoyed I spent $8 on them. The live g free at aldis brand is so much better tasting.

DISGUSTING

These are disgusting. Like other reviewers have mentioned, they taste salty and not at all like brownies. The texture is off and the taste is gross. We usually love simple mills products but these are absolutely horrible. DO NOT BUY.
