nice for tarts or flans...but the lid is a pie-crust-killer
I bought this for baking flan, so it was adequate for me. however, I don't think I'd have selected this for pies. 1st, (and least important) it would've been nice if it were dishwasher safe. Minus half a star there. 2nd, (the most important): the lid. There are a dozen different pie pans you can buy. If you choose this one, you're probably paying noticably more because it's the only one with a nice sturdy lid. It's a great concept (who likes putting the effort into baking something that gets smooshed in transport?). However, with this design, the lid just doesn't work that well. The rim of the pan is about 2 cm in width, 1 cm of that is in direct contact with the lid (when attached), leaving just under 1 cm that you can use for a crust. You can cross your fingers hoping the crust expands just enough in the oven so the lid doesn't crush it after it's done--good luck with that. Alternatively, you can shape an especially narrow crust. The question I'd be asking myself though is, "am I buying a pan to accomodate a pie, or am I baking a pie to accomodate a pan?" ...if you're compromising you're recipe before you even begin, you're probably using the wrong equipment.
