Incredible product, but give it time
To all the folks who had breakouts—, not everyone’s skin loves niacinamide, this is true. But, I would recommend two things before writing off this product. 1) First, make sure that you are using it with other products that are “niacinamide friendly”. After all, this is chemistry of a sort, and not all products get along with niacinamide. 2) sometimes it will get worse before it gets better-such is life I suppose. I think of niacinamide sort of like retinol, if your skin is not used to it, it can cause inflammation. My recommendation would be to use the niacinamide only a couple days a week to start, and slowly build yourself up to get your skin use to it. This was the case with me. When I first started using it, my skin was a little inflamed, but after a while of getting my skin use to it, it’s great. It has made such a difference my skin-pore size has reduced, texture is smoother, overall tone is better too. Without it, I would surely look like an ogre…This is my favorite product in my skincare routine.

My poor skin :(
I wanted to love this product , on my first two uses my skin was very nice and hydrated but on my third…. I had a bad reaction Red irritation on my cheeks , chin and forehead along with little white bumps, my skin felt so irritated I immediately tried to cleanse my face right after in hopes of not further letting the product itrritate my skin. Such a let down that this caused my skin to react bad , i love taking care of my skin and hope these bumps go away soon!

This serum really works well on me. After a month or so of consistent usage, it significantly improved the occurrence of large, under the skin bumps. I tried another brand's niacinamide + zinc solution (as the large bottles of The Ordinary were out of stock) and the acne came back!

BREAKING OUT
I really really wanted to love this product- after hearing so many good things about it and reading all the positive reviews I was SOLD. I use it in a regime suggested to me from The Ordinary's website. I have had acne prone skin for YEARS. I am nearly one year postpartum and experiencing crazy breakouts. The consistency of this product is very thick and sticky to me? It just felt so heavy on my face? I believe it caused me to break out EVEN MORE- and in places I didn't normally break out! I do believe it reduced my pores a bit, but I will not continue because of the new breakouts I keep experiencing.

This product works for me.
I have been using this product for roughly 4 months since starting my Korean skincare journey. I have noticed a significant difference in my skin. I had super oily and problematic skin that I would have to treat day and night with benzoyl peroxide. When I first transitioned from that regimen to the new one, I had bad breakouts. But I continued and after about 2 weeks, my skin was doing good. Now, I get by with using the benzoyl peroxide lotion occasionally and I think that is because my moisture barrier is restored. I have tried other serums by Byoma and so far the ordinary has been my favorite in my routine. It is very light weight and refreshing. I do believe it reduces inflammation. I also suffer from itchy scalp and dandruff sometimes. After using a dandruff shampoo, my scalp was still itchy in one spot, so I decided to try this serum on my scalp. Lo and behold, it worked! I was shocked because that one spot would be itchy after shampooing often and one application with the serum stopped it. So I do believe that this product helps to reduce skin inflammation. It does something lol I would recommend you try it.

I THINK my pores actually do look better but its so sticky i feel like i have syrup on my hands after. Im weirded out by texture, so not sure if i will get another bottle. We shall see. Prices was really decent tho.

Game changer
This serum has been a staple in my skincare routine for 6+ years now, and it's my favorite TO product to date because it is literally the ONLY thing that has ever had any effect on my incredibly oily skin. I love trying new products, but the niacinamide + zinc is the one thing I absolutely do not want to be without. It took weeks of consistent use (3 drops in the AM and PM), and I did experience some mild purging in the first couple of months, but I went from needing to blot my face every 1-2 hours to occasionally needing to blot once or twice a day! I've also noticed fewer breakouts (I used to get painful cystic acne along my jawline, which rarely happens anymore). To anyone who is considering adding this to their skincare routine: definitely do a patch test first. Also, crosscheck the ingredients list with any other products that you use to make sure that everything will play well together. Some products can cause irritation if used together, while others can actually make each other less effective. (There are apps that can help with this.)

The best niacinamide
I’ve been using this product for a few years and it is wonderful. I love the price point as well. I’ve tried others but find this one works the best. It isn’t sticky like other serums and works great under other products. I have sensitive skin and have had no issues with this.
