The best way to explain pink noise is an ambient noise often played in the background to help with focus and to drown out other sounds that might interfere with concentration or sleep. It’s a softer, more mild version of white noise, which we generally think of as being similar to radio static. Pink noise emphasizes lower frequency sounds rather than high-frequency sounds. WebMD likens it to “a steady rain, wind rustling through trees, or waves on a beach.” For many people, this is much more pleasant to listen to for an extended period of time. The human body is incredible for so many reasons, but surely one of the most fascinating ones is how our eats pick up sound. Whenever we listen to music or hear a car door slam, the sound creates vibrations, which in turn create waves in the air. These waves enter our eardrums causing them to vibrate. Tiny hair cells within our eardrums are able to pick up different frequencies and pitches from the pattern of the vibrations caused by the waves. Playing pink noise creates a steady, calming sound for the eardrum to pick up on.

Q: After it has run it's desiginated time or turned off, will it go back to the previous selection (for example pink noise) when turned on again? Will the volume be the same when turned back on?

  • A: The Dreamcenter will keep the same settings when you turn it off and them back on. If it is unplugged or the power goes out, it will them reset back to its original setting.

    White noise has other sounds in it?

    So I think this issue is only for people with good hearing and are neurodivergent - in all of the white noise options I can hear other odd noises or even song tones coming through. I've troubleshooted this for weeks and I am certain the recordings of white noise have also recorded other noises that bother me. I can't sleep thinking about what that distant squeaky rattling noise is or why I think I can hear the same bar of music over and over again but could never figure out where it came from, until I turned this thing off and it would magically disappear. Very frustrating because now that I'm sure it's this thing I am probably out of the return window.

    Infant Approved

    This was a must for our newborn as it quickly calmed her at night and nap time. The light was a great feature as well! Loved it so much we got one for a friend who was expecting. Our baby decided on her own when she was done with it. At about 6 months she no longer wanted the sound or night light.

    Love the Options!

    I love that there are multiple sound options and volume settings. You can have the night light on or off, and you can set a timer - or just let it play all night!     Great machine!

    So I bought this same exact machine at my local TJ Maxx for about $20. Until then, we were playing white noise sounds through my iPad cause we didn't think we needed a sound machine. I'm so glad I went ahead and purchased it after reading all the great reviews. The lowest setting is not too loud for us, it's actually perfect. We didn't notice any weird pink/white noise sound, but then again, we were using our iPad, so this machine is significantly better. The light is bright enough to emit a light ambience, but not as bright as a plug in night light. Overall, we love this machine.

    Best baby sound machine

    Beat sound machine I found for babies-and I tried all of them. It’s got a nice dim nightlight and all the sounds are actually soothing. I liked the different white/brown/pink noises as well as the “shushing” one, the campfire one, and the heartbeat one. Any other sounds are usually too stimulating for a baby to sleep. This one is great. I also found the ones with apps were too complicated to them off/on at bedtime and had too many issues with the app. This one is straightforward and easy.

    Doesnt come with wall plug!

    This sound machine is smaller than I expected which is neither good nor bad. It has a nice variety of sounds and the buttons are convenient. There are 4 buttons for the 4 categories of different sounds and you continue pressing to scroll through them and it beeps when you’re back at the beginning. The light is just right for putting baby to bed. Sound is good quality. Looks nice. Only reason for taking a star off is that it didn’t come with a wall plug which I think is kind of dumb. so it’s not ready to use out of the box… you have to spend more money. Unless you happen to have one lying around. Which I didn’t.

    Sleep saver

    My son would definitely not sleep without this! We currently only use the white noise feature, but there are plenty of options. The nightlight came in handy the first few weeks, but we don’t use it anymore.

    Compact and perfect!

    Love this sound machine! Works great, has a decent length cord, and has a ton of different sound options. My only complaint is that everyone once (maybe every 3-6 months) in awhile it randomly turns off during the night and wakes my daughter up since she is used to having it on all night long. Highly recommend!
