How loud is too loud?

Really wanted to like this product. It was a fun gift for my husband for his den. However, it runs SO LOUD that I can hear it in the next room. The fan is louder than a box fan and just as irritating. In fact, it is WAY louder than my kitchen refrigerator! We ran it for 36 hours, hoping it would quiet down once it reached the correct temperature, but no luck. I had to return it. Great idea - poorly constructed.
