A: The Color is the difference.

A: No, this machine does not need a drain line. As ice melts, it is recirculated through the machine.

We are sorry to hear your Opal stopped working after 18 months. We recommend making sure your ice bin is pushed all the way in place. If it is out of place, it won't make ice. We also recommend resetting the electronics and unplugging it for 4 hours to see if that helps. We have some great troubleshooting tips on our site that we encourage you to view. I received a used machine. For the price, I am pretty disappointed to say the least. Not sure from where Target is shipping these from, but I do not recommend it. Why do I think it’s used? Because there are signs of it being wiped down(cleaned?) with with water spots on the inside. The ice scooper and ice holder are all scratched up.

Let me start off by saying I LOVE my ice machine. I had to knock off two stars due to the longevity of the machine. Mine went out and I was told the life expectancy is only 15 months. When reading the reviews people's lasted from right under a year to right under a year. With that being said, seems as if GE will extend their warranty another year, if the life expectancy of the machine is only 15 months and due to the cost of the machine.

Installation was easy the real problem is the warranty. Warranty is good for 12 months. I love the machine but a month after the warranty expired the unit failed. There are no GE people to help with a situation like I experienced. I was told that it is a throw away unit and that no repair parts are available.

Very disappointed, first one I had didn’t work properly after a month and half. They warrantied and sent me another one. This one only worked a couple weeks and then had different issues than the first. I love the ice it makes when it would work but neither one last long at all- very disappointing and DO NOT RECOMMEND
