The Purist is a water-based cleanser formulated to gently wash away sweat, oil, and everyday impurities — but, makeup, SPF, and long-wear formulas are oil-based. That means water alone can’t effectively dissolve oil, which is why gel cleansers like The Purist aren’t designed for full makeup removal. Because of this, Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm would be the most effective first cleanse followed by The Purist for a clean, refreshed base. We hope this information helps!     New formula burns

    Between this cleanser and their gel moisturizer, they made my skin extremely sensitive. I have red, flakey, and very itchy patches on my cheeks. Very upset since I just recently purchased their new packing that claims to be the same formula. Definitely not.

    non-stripping, love for my AM face wash.

    I love this face wash, I prefer to use it in the AM (or pre-work shift) and a creamier cleanser for PM skincare. it is not overly stripping but leaves my face considerably less oily. with consistent use, it makes my face so soft without feeling the need to exfoliate manually or use somewhat harsh chemical exfoliants which my sensitive skin prefers.

    Beware of new formula!!!

    When this was in the blue bottle I used it for years with no issues. I thought I was going crazy when I developed awful eczema around my eyes. Finally figured out the only thing that had changed was this bottle. I switched soaps and it cleated up instantly. I don’t know what they changed in this product but seems I’m not the only one who developed a rash from this!

    Clear Cleaning Winner

    This daily gel cleanser is perfect for me sensitive, mature skin—a great addition to Versed's products. One star removed because it doesn't quite foam up as much as other cleansers, but it does a great job, has no distracting scent, and as I said—it's very gentle on your skin.

    Good cleanser that is not harsh on skin, but I would recommend their previous Wash It Out Gel Face Cleanser over this one, I was sad it stopped selling during the new look rebrand. I think the smell could be better, kind of unpleasant. Otherwise works well.

    What happened???

    I used to use this product when it came in the square blue bottle and ever since they changed I've been having the worst rash around my eyes. I originally chose this product because it was the only one I could find that didn't irritate my skin and now ever since they changed it I cannot use it and I'm so disappointed. This was my favorite face wash and it was such a good deal and this company used to be so good and I'm wondering if they sold out. A very disappointed in the company and very disappointed in this product. I would also like to say that the last product did a very good job of removing all of the makeup and this version does not remove all of my mascara and I'm very disappointed in that as well. I will not be buying this again and I will never be using it again and I will probably stop using everything from this company unless they say they will change back to how they used to be.
