Good overall
I got the opus so I could have a grinder that grinds fine enough for espresso. It does work well and has a good range of settings! The cons are the lack of instructions about the inner ring, I had to look them up on YouTube. And the mentions about the retention are true, I just work around it and use the lid as a bellows and hit the top to shake things out. It is quieter than my baratza encore! I love the magnetic catching container and how it empties great into a portafilter and aero press.

Like it
I have been using my Opus grinder for a couple of weeks and am just now finding the best settings and how to use it. My only problem was that I had it jam and when I went through the steps in the manual I encountered difficulties. I couldn’t get the top grinder to release when I grasped the wire lifter and turned. I got it All clear after using a brush through the bottom… lots of knocking it to jar the grounds loose. Not sure why the jam happened but working great now!

Please please have someone call me. I got my OPUS last week and it won’t grind the beans. My ODE 2 has been amazing for almost a year. But so so sad I can’t use my ODE 2 to grind my espresso for my New Series 1. So I’ve waited since I orders in the Summer and though all the delays for my fabulous Series 1 and have not been able to use it ;( I’m happy to take this review down once I get this resolved. Just very frustrated I can’t speak w someone other than AI. Thanks so much

Low Quality. Do Not Buy.
Honestly, I love everything Fellow - except for this grinder. I have owned 2 and both have been low quality, poor grind consistency, quickly dulls, low quality build/lack of durability. Wait for a 2.0.

Glad I Made the Purchase
I upgraded from 10 years with a low budget hand grinder. The quality of construction seem high. So much quieter than my old grinder. Cups of coffee have been markedly better and surprisingly consistent with French press. I’m still learning to do pour over.

Just what we needed
So far I’m happy with this grinder, it’s got a nice form factor that fits easily on the counter. The grinder is not super loud and grinds well. It matches the coffee maker and tea kettle as well.

Quite but hopper lid is meh
This is quite the upgrade for me and I am pleased with the grinder. It is so so soooo quite in comparison to my last grinder. I wish the hopper lid was easier to remove. It’s (so far) the one one flaw I can fine. Still very happy with the grinder

Love my Opus!!
I have been using my Opus for a couple weeks now and love I more each time I use it! One of the key selling points for me was the lack of static, which has proven to be even better than anticipated. Extra bonus is that it grinds quickly and quietly. If you're on the fence, go for it as you won't be disappointed!!!

Where have you been all my life.
This Opus does fine work (pun). I upgraded from another less expensive burr grinder. This is a lovely machine both in task and look. Infinite grind settings. Wonderful hopper to catch coffee. A magnet to self center. Perfect size for my coffee counter. Solid design. The only way I could be happier is if someone brought my second cup to me - I would never relegate or delegate the joy of assembling and brewing the first cup. Bravo.

Heartbreakingly bad
Just dropped $200 on a grinder that retained almost all the beans when I tried to make an espresso. I was so, so excited to use it too—I had gotten it alongside my new espresso machine. Needless to say, I’m deeply disappointed. Please use your money elsewhere. I get that the reviews seem good, but it’s honestly heartbreaking to buy something you’re so excited about and for it to fail as severely as this did. And I don’t believe it was me—I’ve been a barista for years. I can dial a commercial machine in my sleep. This was truly a waste of my time, and I’ll be getting a refund.

A Lovely Starter Grinder
Retention is the biggest issue with this grinder, however in terms of everything else it's great. Works great with my French press, however I've heard in terms of other methods of brewing- you can get pretty decently flavored brews. Make sure to clean the static pins towards the bottom, otherwise the grinds will spray everywhere.

Great overall grinder
I’ve been using my Opus grinder for about a week and have found it to be the best overall grinder for my needs. I primarily use it for drip, pour over and French press, though I also put it to the test with my Bialetti espresso stovetop pot with great results. I have cycled through a few well known brands and have found the Opus to be quieter and less messy. The timed grind settings are also very convenient. I do not own a high end espresso maching so I have no need of the micro grind settings. If I was preparing espresso on a superb machine, I would probably opt for a higher end grinder. That being said, the Opus is more than capable of producing great results with my morning brew. Very happy with this product.

Amazing Product
Bought this grinder in November and I am so glad I did! The overall performance is excellent, and it has Fellow high quality touches that I have come to expect from this brand - a divider in back of the lid that helps measure beans for grinding 1 or 2 cups, and a magnet to hold the canister in place. The noise is so quiet compared to other burr grinders I’ve used and the capacity is large enough for any use. I get a consistent grind every time and would recommend to anyone.
