Not able to make multiple drinks in a row
Pulls a good shot - steams milk well. But try making multiple drinks in a row - not so good. After steaming milk the machine gets too hot to pull your next shot. You have to let it sit for 10 minutes to cool down. So, if you're just making yourself a latte- it's a good choice.

A nice home machine to start with
After working in a cafe for the summer, trained as a barista, I had to buy an espresso maker for home. This looked like the perfect introductory maker. Worked right out of the box, for sure. I bought a grinder and began working on my dose and yield. Dialing in the timing for extraction is the most difficult part, as you can’t adjust a knob or set a time, you have to manually time the extraction - whether single or double - and set it yourself. So getting back to a previous setting and fine tuning is near impossible. You’ll go through a lot of coffee in this process. I got great creama from the original spouted portafilter, but inconsistent yields. Switching to a bottomless portafilter, I find my grind and pulls definitely have flaws - so starting all over again! The steamer works well, but requires cooling off before pulling another shot. All in all, a nice home machine to get started with.

Stopped working after two months
Learned the counter-intuitive operation procedures by keeping the instructions handy, & made decent espresso for 2 months. Went on vacation for two weeks, came back and the lousy thing will no longer work -- pressure builds up, but no coffee. Cleaned it, fiddled with it, nothing. GARBAGE!

Lasted not even 6 months
I purchased this back in Feb 2026 and all of a sudden it doesn’t brew anymore. Just makes a ridiculous amount of noise like it’s trying to work but nothing comes out of the spout. Of course it’s now outside of the return window. I don’t recommend this product.

Perfect little espresso machine. If you’re looking for a great coffee without all the bells and whistles (or learning curve), this machine does the trick. Ordering a tamper now since the plastic one that came with is the only disappointment.

I love it! I’ve been able to successfully save money by brewing my own lattes versus paying almost $7 a day for one at a local coffee shop. Also, the company is very responsive if you do have a troubleshooting issue. You can’t go wrong with this machine-it consistently brews a better latte than one of the major companies. 😉

Buyer beware - failed in 3 months
This machine worked great, but only for 3 months. Suddenly everything started glitching. No steam out of frother. Steam everywhere else. Pressure was random and glitchy making the taste awful. Buttons flashing and not working. And of course this happened 3 days after the 90 day return window. Beware, could get a defect like mine.

The gauge makes dialing in easier
The pressure gauge is actually more useful than I expected. I can see when my grind is too fine or too coarse, so dialing in beans feels way less like guessing.

Decent starter machine for the price
Decent enough machine, though the temperature - even after preheating - can sometimes be a little cooler than expected. Pretty consistent, now I've dialled in my grind settings for it, as though there is a pressure dial on the machine, it is not adjustable - and broke after around 6 months of consistent use, so have no idea what the pressures are any more! Machine still works with no issues otherwise. Steam wand pretty good, though you get a lot of warm water out before you can use it for steam.

I couldn’t be happier. The CM5418 very easy to use. It is easy to clean. It makes a wonderful cup of espresso. I have wanted an espresso maker for a very long time, and this was a really reasonable price and a high-quality product. I’m very very happy with it.
