Sharper Image 500 Portable Cordless Oral Irrigator - Black

Initially I thought that this portable irrigator was exactly why I needed, something small, functional and can be carry on travels. I was wrong. I took care of cleaning and emptying the device as it was directed, until one day I was moving the case up & down repeatedly with nothing attached and suddenly horrible particles kind of mold that has been building up inside the big water container came up. Needless to say that throw it away in disgust :(

I bought this in Oct 2023 and I really loved it. The strong mode was strong enough for my liking. I had to refill the tank twice though to clean my whole mouth. Unfortunately this past week (first week of March 2025) it is acting erratic, it will turn on by itself throughout the day & night and then shuts off. Sometimes it will just turn on and no matter how hard I pressed the button it won't shut off. I would give it 5 stars if I didn't have this problem :( 2 people found this helpful

The water reservoir is small, travel size only. So if you are thinking for every day use, rather purchase the regular size unit. But its great to bring any where.

Love the portability for flossing. Great size. As others have mentioned, sometimes hard to fill water in the little fill hole. We have been taking the motor apart from the tank to help air it out and prevent mold after each use and that has helped with the cleanliness. We've noticed over the past few uses that it is getting harder (almost impossible) to extend the tank from the motor unit (or separate them from each other). This is sort of disappointing because we purchased our unit in March 2024 so with sporadic usage only for travel, its longevity wasn't the best. But for me, the way this flosser works and helps cleaning between my teeth helps a lot when traveling so I bought another one. Once I figured this thing out, I was hooked! This has been better than flossing and brushing at times. I wish I had bought one sooner! My only problem is that it stopped working. I tried charging it and no type of light showed that it was charging. It was working the day before and then it wasn't. I followed the instructions for Fault Diagnosis, but nothing worked. 😔If the company could help me figure out what the problem is, I would definitely give a 5 star review!

I wanted a water flosser that is compact and easy for travel. This seemed perfect.Pros;-Decent value-Small form factor when packed in-Battery lasts pretty long before needing to charge-Type C port for chargingCons;-It only has massage or floss. I find that massage is pretty useless, it should have a strong/weak power setting instead. This thing can hurt your gums at first if you're not used to it.-After a year and a half of use, this thing would randomly start and stop without me touching it. This small, convenient product is very effective and leaves my teeth feeling clean. I love it for travelling, as it fits easily with other toiletries and has been very reliable. I have crowns and an implant, so I really need to use it every night to remove food debris. The battery lasts a long time, and charging with a USB cord is easy. The water capacity is limited by it's small size, so I usually have to refill it and use a second tankful to feel like I've completely cleaned my teeth. On my unit, the nozzle was very difficult to remove at first; I had to grip it with my teeth to remove it from the unit for storage, but that got better over the months. Why did you pick this product vs others?:I just threw out this compact water flosser as it suddenly stopped working and would no longer charge. It worked fine for a year and a half and then dead as a doorknob. It's great to travel with, It 's effective and easy to use though (obviously) the small water tank requires filling every use. It alsoneeds regular cleaning to prevent mold and mildew formation. The integrity of the power supply, whether it be from a weak usb connector port, a battery issue of some sort or a bad on/off switch, these are the most common and most annoying of deficits that force us to dispose of items rather then repair them. I hate it. The technology is great but the build is crappy and so nothing lasts as long as it should. Pity. 2 people found this helpful

This is great for traveling. It is small, lightweight, cordless. It does feel like it cleans my teeth pretty well and the quality is good. I find myself having to re fill with water 3-4x before I get a full mouth cleaning. But it is smaller so I would expect that. I use this all of the time. Comes with a charging cord

I've had this product over a year and have been very happy with it. It works great and is compact.I think the hardest thing.. which is true of most water flossers is cleaning and drying. I rinse it out with hydrogen peroxide every so often and lay it on paper towels to dry.In the last month, the bottom part (water reservoir) that slides over the motor part has gotten so tight that I can't get it off the machine without brute force. I guess the little gasket has expanded but it's frustrating.But I like it enough to order a new one if it will last another 15 months I'll be happy. 4 people found this helpful

I have tried four different Water Flossers from different brands. They all had different flaws and broke within a year of daily use. Some were too bulky for traveling, others had weak water pressure, etc. I bought the last one for travel use. I have been using it off and on for a year now. I like everything about it: the design, the compactness, the sufficient volume of water and strong pressure, the charge lasts a long time. I had the travel waterpik and it kept getting moldy in the water cup and you COULD NOT get it clean. I put cup in dishwasher....big mistake. I looked to see what else was out there and I found this travel waterpik. I love it. It's easy to use, I'm not worried about mold bc I separate it yo dry out. Its powerful enough. This is fantastic . I'm a water pic addict and dread the time when I leave on a trip without it! I found this on TRAKK and had to try it. The water capacity and pressure are superb. It could easily replace my counter top Water Pic. Yes, it works that good. It comes with a brush for polishing and flossing tip. And a "suede" bag for carrying it. 3 people found this helpful

I just finished a two week trip to Africa. It is essential that I use a water pic on a daily basis. This device worked just as well as my home major brand water pic. I purchased this travel water flosser because I didn't want a big unit on my vanity counter. It was GREAT and I could put it away in a drawer. However, after almost 4 years of almost daily use, it has died. I still had the instruction pamphlet and found the statement, "NOTICE: This product does not have replaceable or paintable parts. Please return it to the manufacturer if need repaired."I haven't tried to return it yet, but sent an email to the customer service department and am waiting to hear back from them.This unit will hold a charge for quite a few days - can't remember if it will last a whole week on a single charge since I always brought my charger if I would be staying longer than a 4-day weekend.I loved this flosser but -- it is not designed to REPLACE flossing....it is to be used in addition to flossing. It really helps to get food particles along the gum line (like popcorn shells, etc.). I would brush, floss with Unwaxed floss and then use this -- and surprisingly, I would see particles of food in the sink basin!So, it is especially good for those who are aging since we seem to get more gaps for food to hide!It is a bit awkward to reach all of the spaces and a bit messy - best to just bend over the sink so it doesn't go all over the mirror, etc. But, my exams have been very good!!Now I need to buy a new one...not sure if I want to buy this one again because tossing this in a landfill is a problem for me.
