For best results, please ensure you're turning it in only one direction, similar to screwing on a lid when it's upside down. These grinders are designed to operate in a single direction and may not function properly if turned both ways. The moisture content in Celtic Sea Salt® is part of what makes it so unique. Unrefined sea salt like our Celtic Sea Salt® brand salts are not as easy to use as refined salt. Unrefined sea salt includes water-loving minerals that take moisture out of the air and can clump and cake. The moisture content of these natural salts can sometimes make for difficult salting. If your Celtic Sea Salt® is too wet to use in your grinder, then we have a low-temperature drying method that can help. Just preheat the oven to 200 degrees, put the salt in on a plate, turn the oven off, and let the salt hang out in that warm dry place for a while. The second is the “freezer method” where you put your salt in the freezer overnight with the lid off. Drying the salt is a last resort. Usually, our grinders can handle the moist salt, but over time salt can clump up in the gears and can be more difficult to use. If you are not using a grinder from us then there is a good chance the salt will not work in there, especially if it has metal parts.
