My husband only uses this Up and Up brand. It's the only OTC medicine that removes stops a chronic deep cough and removes mucus during flu or URI . The big name brands cost twice as much and don't work as well.

Effective. Taste is Awful.
Pros: It works for four hours. Calmed my cough, helped loosen mucus. Cons: The taste is terrible. But that's a temporary issue. It's not cost effective considering the dosage of some competitors is 10ml as opposed to the 20ml of this syrup. The price difference is probably a wash. Neutral: This is a daytime medicine in that its effect is only four hours. I took it to sleep but was awakened by coughing by the time the four hours ended. Keep that in mind if you're searching for a syrup to use overnight.

I purchased this after a week of dealing with an upper respiratory infection. It doesn’t taste great, but it doesn’t taste horrible. However, it does NOT help with the coughing and worse, it upsets my stomach.

Basic tussin dm congestion cough syrup. But don't buy unless you're very strong or have a pair of Knipex self adjusting locking pliers in your toolbox. Impossible to open the child proof cap without a serious tool.

Does not work well
Tastes fine, not super strong. Doesn’t work though. I’ve had a bad cough with nasal drip for a few days and taking this every 4 hours as directed, and it has done nothing to clear up any mucus or stop coughing at all.

It worked very well. It stopped my coughing and brought up a lot of junk. And, the raspberry/mint flavor felt really good on my sore throat. A win/win all the way around. I usually buy Robitussin, but I'd buy it this instead.
