We do not recommend these jars for hot beverages, as they are made of annealed glass, not tempered glass.

We have never tested our jars for making yogurt. The jars are made out of annealed glass, not tempered glass and hot liquids should not be poured into the jars.

A: Hi -Z, thanks for reaching out regarding the Ball 32oz 4pk Glass Regular Mouth Rose Vintage Mason Jar with Lid and Band. The Ball Jars simply need to be washed in hot soapy water prior to use. If you are using the jars for canning, they should be simmered in a simmering pot (180degrees) prior to filling with your hot ingredients for canning.

Our canning jars are made of annealed glass; composed of soda, silica, lime, and cullet. The Ball® colored jars are made with tinted glass, the color is not added to, nor is it painted onto the jars.

The lid seals tightly and they are glass. I adore the rose pink hue and the jars a good size. Would buy more of this collection or other colors.

They are more festive than the original clear glass. I can think of a million and one ways to use these…way beyond pickles. And they are so pretty that they would make great gifts filled with pasta sauce, pickled anything, and soups. I am going to save one for flowers. This 32 ounce size is perfect for a summer bouquet.
