Q: Does it work by filtering between rooms even with the doors closed?

submitted by PPmartini - 1 year ago
  • A: Thank you for your interest in Blueair. It's most efficient to run the air purifier with the door closed, as it can cleanse the air more effectively. However, with the door open, it will still clean the air but can take longer since new air is always being reintroduced through the open door.

I was in the market for a whole house air purifier when I somehow stumbled upon this on clearance at my local Target. I’m assuming it had something to do with the packaging or branding, because it was unopened! I brought it home and decided I was NOT going to open it and put it to use until we moved into our new house (renovating a fixer upper, and this was going to be my little treat after we moved!) A few days ago, I was so frustrated with all of the drywall dust from sanding. I had tried fans, vacuuming, leaf blowing with the windows open, and no matter what I did there was still dust everywhere. Impulsively I decided to open this bad boy and see how it did, because I was out of options. I turned it on high in a bedroom overnight and sealed off the door. The next morning, almost every single spec of dust was gone. Even running my hands over the walls- they were clean. I’ve never had an air purifier this powerful before but if it’s picking up these huge particles of drywall dust, I can only imagine what it’s removing from the air we breathe. My favorite thing about this (besides its power) is the color indicator, showing you updates on the quality of air. I haven’t had a chance to play with the fancy settings, but it’s quiet, honestly very aesthetically pleasing, and impressive at what it does. Considering buying another at full price because I am so pleased with this product!

I am using the Blueair in a 1500 sq-ft. 1-level unit. It easily maintains my air quality to level 0. We have much less accumulation of dust, especially now with the forest fires adding to poor air quality.

Works well. Easy to set up. App is easy to use. We had painters here and when they shook out their floor covering (which of course were dusty) the machine went crazy. Number went from 0 to 12. Didn’t take long for it to go back to 0. Works fast. I shudder to think what I would have been breathing if I didn’t have the air purifier to clean the air. It is a big unit. Bigger than I thought but I found a spot where is fits, looks good and works well. Don’t hesitate to get one!

I am currently having a lot of problems with this unit. I plan to call blue air I purchased it to help control dust at my lake house and it actually makes things 120% worse. I’m hoping it’s just a fluke and they’ll send me another one. The filter doesn’t catch any dust. Just shoots it up through the venting system in the unit and goes out in the room dust when I got back to the house after running it for a week was about an inch thick.

Easy to set up, easy to use app (setting multiple schedules for it to turn on when I want it to is AWESOME!) I have also noticed it detect pollution levels accordingly while cooking something that turned smokey. Looks sleek but very simple. The screen locking capability has been most important given I have 2 toddlers, it’s something I didn’t even consider whole shopping and is amazing to have.

Works as advertised. Pros: Plenty of airflow. Very high CADR. Decent app support/integration. Aesthically pleasing (at the cost of ergonomics). Cons: 1) the "Night mode" only can run at the lowest airflow setting. But you can get around that by setting it to whichever setting you want and then dimming the display while never touching the night mode button. 2) Not entirely unpleasant but the sound it makes still less pleasant other air purifiers I own. 3) The entire lineup of Blue Pures has no carry handles whatsoever ever to reposition them.
