Q: I’m not sure why they added Teatree oil, but it definitely has a bad odor probably what everyone is complaining about ??
Was wondering if tea tree oil is a newer ingredient as I used to use this product several years ago. Thank you
submitted by Mom of 2 - 2 years ago
A: We are sorry for any confusion. We have not changed the formula on this product, tea tree oil is a component and since it is fragrance free, you may notice this. This should dissipate within 60 seconds of application.

This face primer has garnered mixed feedback from guests, with many praising its ability to create a smooth base for makeup and enhance skin texture. While some guests appreciate its affordability and effectiveness in blurring pores, others have raised concerns about its strong chemical smell and potential for causing breakouts. Overall, it seems to work well for those with specific skin types, particularly when paired with compatible makeup products.

Love This Primer
I love this face primer. I have used it for several years and it works better than most others to me. I also love the price compared to other brands.

Awful Smell & Makes Me Break Out
This primer is awful. It smells like chemicals, for starters. That was enough to make me not want to use it often, but then when I tried to fight through the smell and give it a fair shot, my face would break out every time I used it. I have naturally very clear skin, so breaking out is not a normal occurrence for me, and I tried it a few times, many weeks apart, each time with the same result. I would never buy this again, and now I am put off of Elf products entirely; this was my very first product I tried.

Skin irritation and ineffective product
Garbage product that caused skin irritation. The primer did nothing to blur my pores and the formula pilled.

Smells bad
Smells terrible and I am not sensitive to fragrance! It’s industrial chemical-like.

Not a fan
This product depends on base products of your makeup and skin care for it to be useful. I believe this is a silicone base product. Not suitable if your face products are water based. Your makeup won't hold and start to cake. It might be good at holding makeup without caking if your makeup and skincare are silicone based. I don't know how elf is passing this as poreless. It's useless. I can't see any difference with my pores from before and after applying this product. It's also too fragranced for my liking I recommend the poreless putty if you want a more poreless look and your products are water based.

Exceed my expectations
Im a woman in her 50's who's always took care of her skin and still does. I can say that I was quite impressed with the results of this primer. It definitely was worth trying. I still use it today.

Wanted to Love But Disappointed
This primer has my makeup sliding all over my face and transferring. After only a few hours, half of my makeup is off my face. This is the second ELF primer I have tried and had issues with. I regret purchasing this unfortunately. This product also has a little bit of an off-putting odor that smells like tea tree oil.

Nope - keep looking
Did not fill pores. Does not smooth the skin nor does it minimizes the appearance of pores. Maybe it’s meant for someone between 18 and 25? However the review I read stated that “This version is particularly good for mature skin because it helps even out the appearance of dull skin and provides added smoothing benefits”. I 100% disagree…I had high hopes! I’ll have to keep looking for a suitable product because ELF is not it.

Very strong tea tree oil scent
Unfortunately because I've got such sensitive skin even the thought of putting this very strong smelling ( like tea tree oil) primer on my face was a no no for me. I've loved the Elf setting sprays so much ( original and coconut) and never had an issue with them. Also really like the unscented face cream and eye cream. Hoping ELF will come out with an unscented or lightly scented primer that I can use.

Oily
I started using this because I ran out of my poreless primer and my face was so oily after a few hours. I didn’t know what exactly was happening until I realized that was the only step I’ve changed. Wanted to love it but I’ll stick with my other poreless product.

LOVE IT - NOSE NO MORE POLKA DOTS
Love ♥️. I’ve spent so much money on expensive primers and foundations trying to find something that did not sink into the giant pores of my nose and make it look like polkadots. I am older and your nose never stops growing, therefore, people who lived back in the day before we knew not to squeeze blackheads, be gentle with our face so as not to tear pores & before there were many skin care products available, are now suffering with these giant pores. I had given up – but my friend said try this elf pink primer - I could not believe it worked.
