I don't know if it's the watch or the app -- both Garmin products, but they constantly disconnect. It refuses to track sleep. and after volunteering at a wildlife refuge for 5 hours it showed 87 steps and no exertion.

This device has become my motivator. Wearing it reminds me to get my steps in. What a game changer. I drink more water. I am learning to get more sleep and be more active. On top of that I like the sophisticated and sleek design. Such a practical device. I absolutely love it.

My first purchase I needed to return because the wristband was not a size large. My error, pay attention to the sizing options. Second purchase, for some reason the device didn't stay pair'd with my Pixel phone after day 2. Followed the trouble shooting routine three times with no success. I got frustrated and packaged it up. I will purchase again, just needed a rest. Garmin has great products.

My husband and I (both of us on the same day) bought this watch. My husband's watch needs to be charged every day (mine is not). Is the battery weak already? Should he get a replacement watch? Our watches can be charged only by connecting to the cell phone and so it is very slow. Can we get charger that connects via USB (to wall)? We both have problems in understanding the settings. For example, we need to turn off the wrist feature that lights up at night and not all the time. I would like to get a weekly report of steps, heartbeat and sleep data. The downloaded file is in .fit file type and I cannot open. I want the downloads to be in CSV format.

This is the latest of several Garmin devices I have purchased for fitness and cycling. This is a good upgrade from the Vivosmart 4 which I was using in the summer previously. I like the slim fit and inclusion of several features but the menu system is a little complicated for manually checking pulse oximeter and some other items. I definitely had to turn off automatic testing of pulse oximeter. Battery would only last 5 days with that on but last twice that with it turned off.

Good grip around the wrist and very comfortable even when I sleep with it. The features are great. I do wish the screen was a little bit bigger for a touch screen.

I've been using a Garmin Vivofit for years and was very happy with it. Recently I had a need for a heart monitor and after looking at the many choices I decided on the Vivosmart 5. It has many features I don't need but time, date, steps and heart rate are exactly what I do need. It's also small unlike all the others, and at a great price. Nice job Garmin!

Had to replace my vivosmart 4 because the battery charger wouldn't connect anymore. I am a senior so I don't need as many of the activity apps. The vivosmart 5 is a little more advanced than the 4 with better accuracy and more info added. The only issue that bothers me is that the battery doesn't last as long as I would like but it does charge quickly.

I bought this watch about a month ago and while it's still early goings, I must say that I'm quite satisfied with the product. Garmin has been around for a while, mostly known for their navigation guidance systems, I heard great things about these fitness watches and decided to go with them. I mostly use the device as a way of tracking my movements throughout the day, steps, calories burned and something that I've been struggling with, sleep. I like that this watch keeps track of my sleep patterns while not being uncomfortable to wear at night. It's lightweight, slim design make that possible. And, it is a watch! It keeps time and date at a glance, and when linked to your phone through the app, keeps you updated on everything going with your phone. My next goal is to incorporate it into my running schedule. I really love the fact that I won't have to carry my phone with me now to track my distance. Great device, like I said, still early in usage , but, so far, so good , I'm really happy with the product, and I'm excited to see where it can take me in terms of achieving my goals.

A Mixed Bag of Features

I purchased this watch a couple weeks ago to keep track of movement and sleep. The battery, if used continuously doesn't last more than 30 hours! I wear it to bed for sleep data, exercise in the a.m. and recharge it while showering and making breakfast. This is the only way I can ensure I'll not have the watch stop during my afternoon walk. There was no warning of low battery when it did stop during a recorded activity. (Frustrating.) The watches movement reminder likes to remind me to move just after I've been running around the house but NOT when I've been sitting and working too long. The sleep program and other programs give me mixed data—statements like "your high activity yesterday impacted your sleep in a negative way" Stuff like that after a day of REST, and vice versa. I'm using the watch as a pedometer on my outside walks. It seems to handle that well when synced to my iPhone GPS. I would not recommend this watch for more than a pedometer.

I've had this for a little over a month now and would buying again. Tracks health and exercise data nicely. Tracking oxygen 24/7 drains the battery. I tracker it during sleep only and now get 4 to 5 days from a full charge.

This is kind of between a tracker and a smart watch. A few features are missing from Garmin's full-featured watches that I wasn't aware they lacked. It's good for basic tracking, but it shows that there is a gap in the Garmin product line for those of us who don't want a full smart watch but want all the advanced metrics.
